...if our new overladies...
I'm pretty sure two of us aren't female. BA had a go at explaining the stickiness, but perhaps it isn't having the intended effect given that it's already descended into the posting of oversized smileys. Thanks for raising the tone, Scots :<img src="images\smilies\biggrin.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Big Grin" height=200 width=200>

Explaining why is this thread stickied again, why not. People picking apart what should be done around here as far as mega threads go. So we split up the thread from GBM's thread, and wanted ideas, thoughts about TTLG and its future. Nothing wrong with that. It's important. I personally have talked to people that want to make this a better place, from revamping the site, adding more content, etc. What should and shouldn't be done.
Even though some people are happy and ok with all these changes. I also get the feeling people are worried, and probably pissed off to some degree about the changes, nothing we can do about it, cept make it better, and do the best we can. Give it a chance. I get the feeling too that some think, that Comm chat is going to turn into the dance of the sugar plum fairies as we all hold hands and sing Kumbaya. No. Just trying to put some minds at ease.

I don't like the idea of intending to create a megathread. I think that, if you create a thread worthy of discussion, especially a discussion that can be had over a long period of time, then it will achieve megathread status on its own. There's no need in my mind to label it as such.
The vast majority of threads in any forum will naturally "die out," like threads about specific in-game questions ("Where's the key to the locked door, etc."). Only a few threads, relative to the total number of threads ever created in a forum, will go beyond 3-4 pages, and almost all of the time they are either about overarching themes from a game (Watch someone play Thief for the first time, Best Guard Quotes, etc) or about the forum's users (KTHXBYE), or a combination (Taffer Art).
Nobody starts one of those threads with the intention of it getting to 10+ pages or whatever. I'm sure the KTHXBYE thread is seared in your memory much more now than it was a few weeks ago. Threads become that way over time - they're spontaneous.

May I offer a bit of advice? Don't explain your actions as a moderator, it's a neverending road. And the more you explain, the more bitching and whining you'll hear, it's like running a kindergarten. Discussion forums are not democracies.

Oh I appreciate it Vas. I understand what you're saying. We're just trying to answer some questions around here, and we're about done with it. Already thought of that of what you mentioned too, this was the exception. I'm not a stranger to doing this. In this case we felt it was warranted. Big change around here, this will eventually die down, it already is. I think our graduation is upon us, then we'll all be in the first grade.
Given the huge discussion on this topic on FB, it's spilled over here, hey it livens things up.

OK, now that everyone has had a chance to regurgitate and puke all over the place. I just realized that for those that are shy about posting, you lurkers out there, you know who you are. The forum is now ours! BOWHAHAH!!!! Take control of it! If anyone says boo, who cares, say boo back at them. Hey time to start over, kick ass, I'm for it.
Boo, Guess maybe the lurker thing describes me. Anyway, I think kolya's post on page one is excellent. What I've seen is a distinct lack of welcoming anyone new or who doesn't post a lot. Frankly ttlg is just a clique and if you aren't one of the old timers who understands all the in jokes you get treated with a lot less respect. To the extent anyone new or doesn't post a lot got ridiculed and told to post less.. seriously.. I've been told that myself.
The other problem I think is too many threads talking about how to revive the site.. if you talk about the site dieing..its a self fulfilling prophesy.
Preparing myself to be told I'm a dumbass who should post less..LOL

No, no, no.. I don't think it is dying. A metamorphosis maybe.

Just make me a moderator, and everything will be fine and dandy.
Trust me.
