I seem to remember GEP ammo being rarer than picks.
Yeah, so use both...

That reminds me. For one playthrough, before I was forced to format my harddrive, I had set it up in the user.cfg so that mouse wheel down executed slomo .1, and mousewheel up executed slomo 1. Then I used cheats to max my pistol skill and fully mod my pistol. And after that I proceeded to begin a matrix playthrough of Deus Ex
Run into a group of enemies, slow things down, then while moving 1 shot head shot each one of them. Or jump over a rail dramatically and rain death down below, killing every one of them before you land.

Um, moop, the augs still werent that useful. The number of times they offered any realistic advantage were minimal. And you usually had to pretty much try and find a way to use them. The biomods in DXIW were on average much higher quality, and they did more things than just stat adjustments.
And quietness? Was completely useless. If you chose speed, you could crouch and move faster than you did while running normally completely silent.
Trust me, the augs are useful if you get good with them... very much so. As for speed aug being a substitute for stealth... you can't ever leave the ground (e.g. using stairs, jumping on top of an object, dropping down off an object) within earshot of enemies unless you're using the stealth aug, so they're not quite interchangeable. You seem resistant to accepting the possibility that augs have use, which I suppose is fine...you
can play the game without extensive use of augs... but I think you're missing out if you do. I don't suppose you'd want a demorec of practical uses for augs during the game...
As for the biomods in DX:IW being better, I could agree, but only if the A.I. of each game were analogous. The A.I. of enemies in DX was pitiful, making the augs less "necessary" in some cases... but conversely, some parts of DX:IW practically demanded them. I'll have to play through DX:IW again though to make sure - I only played through it once.

Therefore, the only advantages to stealth feet are that you can stand upright quiet, jump quiet, and use stairs quiet. And the rest of the ones I listed are useful in a limited number of situations. I personally didn't find too many enemies with tranq guns, at least not that I noticed. Also, I didnt attack speed aug. I said that it offered the most common use of quiet feet better than quiet did. Also, no part of DXIW demands augs to be used, unless I'm severely mistaken.

I should point out that the host of augs provided with DX is very nice for modmakers, too: while, say, energy shield might've been underexploited in the original game, the fact it exists, all nicely pre-coded and stuff, makes it possible/easy to design scenarios that take advantage of it.
And augaqualung is good for humour, if nothing else... :D

I haven't tested all of these, but if you want links, let me know and I'll PM you and drop them in my server.
Aqualung will help you get the laser scope and augmentation upgrade cannister in the flooded part of Hong Kong, and a reload mod underneath La Guardia (inside a pipe in the escape tunnel from the Helipad which leads to the shipping dock), but overall...not incredibly useful. A rebreather will help, but my inventory is always completely full.

Thats not that big a list, and of the actual mission mods, maybe 3 are worth playing from what I've heard. Anyway, I heard it is technically possible to edit DXIW files in T3ed, but you would have to change a but load of the gamesies and stuff, and because the 2 builds are a bit different there might be incompatibility issues.

I had no idea that the Sniper rifle could open locks. When it says "TheGreatGodPan wrote" that is a DIRTY FILTHY LIE! That was moop.
I suppose the reason I didn't get much use out of augs is that I'm not that great a player (too lazy to think about activating augs when I've got skills that work passively, like in an RPG) and cheap by nature, not using much ammo, never spending money (so I'm filthy rich by the end) and not wanting to use energy, JUST IN CASE I might need to use it later. I think the technical term for my playstyle might be "stupid". To cover I like to say that I concentrate on having a good CHARACTER who excels at certain things, rather than collecting shiny gadgets.
