What I had meant in the post was System Shock 2 would be made as a mod for System Shock 1, therefore it would the newer gameplay elements with the old.
This is where you enter into the realm of crazy talk. The "newer gameplay elements" of SS2
don't exist in the SS1 engine. That's what makes them new innit. So to put them in SS1, you'd have to rewrite the engine, and once you start rewriting the engine, oh hey look we end up with the Dark Engine again.

All right, then the gameplay elements can be adapted instead to better fit the capabilities of the older engine.
I think this idea may require many thorough conceptual diagrams, explanations, and designs in order to actually carry it out. (As well as a more realistic approach to the idea).
I'll probably start with an SS1 syled box cover for SS2 with a Many Hybrid's head in place of the Elite Cyborg's top on the original.

Not to speak of the black science involved!
The best course here is to start with a website. You could put the new box cover on it. Then writing news items about future plans and the latest site-update will keep you busy until your enthusiasm has faded and the realisation settles in that this was always impossible to begin with and not that desirable anyway.

I think that the best course of action is to ask for NiX's assistance and guidance in the whole project.

Agreed, he certainly knows how to stick with a project - three years or so on the configuration file editor so far.

Over 8 years.

Serves me right for being lazy and just checking the date of the first post in the blog thread. I thought it was older than that, but I didn't realise it was five years older.

Just keeping that thread alive during all this time and almost all by himself shows his level of commitment. It probably also shows that he should be committed, but that's another story.

The first post was in 2007. I don't know what Kolya's referring to.

Insider information. I've told this story before actually: When I started with SS2 back in 2002 I first visited a German forum. There I found a (beta version of the same) program, promising all kinds of awesomeness, made by our very own Nixie. I think he went under the handle nixph0e then or dudu3k. Anyway, the program broke my game, the forum was full of retarded idiots and I left both behind to find TTLG and lived happily ever after.
