Anyone know what/who the next episode will be about? Wiki's still saying TBA.

I just read a lengthy synopsis of the next episode from people who've seen it already (and you get a pretty good feel that it's real after reading it, lots of details). I won't say what it's about, but I will say that it seems WAY WAY better than "Across The Sea." Seems easily good enough to get excited again for the show's finale.

I'm confused here... why didn't Jacob just give Richard the job? Why all the fuss with bringing these "candidates" to the island?
It's possible that at the time Richard arrived on the island, Jacob hadn't started his list yet. Why he wouldn't have given it to him later? No clue. Maybe he liked Richard enough in the position he'd put him.
Also, awesome episode last night. Speaking of Richard, he really needs to look both ways before he crosses the damned train tracks. All aboard the Smokey Express.

So, any guesses as to how it will all end? T-minus 4 days now.
Can they (the writers) actually top some of their previous acts, such as the opening of the hatch, the flashforward, the island disappearing, and/or the detonation of a nuclear bomb?
I'm guessing they won't disappoint.

Something tells me it's going to end on a cliffhanger. Not one where it's about to show the final scene and just cuts to "LOST" though. One where everything seems to have been wrapped up (protecting the island, smokey dealt with etc). Then sometime will pass by and someone or something will make reference to a new threat to the island, but before any actual information will be given it ends. It'll wrap up the story of Jacob's reign and the survivors of 815, but tease that maybe something more will happen to the island in the future.

I want to know what Richard and the Others talked about for 150 years before 815 got to the island.

I think The Others really got the shaft as far as the writing process went. It always seemed that they were up to much more, that they had big things going on both on and off the island. Turns out that all they did was sit around, protecting the island. Only they did it so badly that when the big threat emerged, they got slaughtered. I'm sure a lot of that though had to due with the fact that most of them really seemed clueless about.. well, anything. Dogen seemed to be the most well informed of them all.
It seemed the writers could have done a much better job of explaining exactly what The Others did, what their purpose was. Besides acting as redshirt followers for whoever the leader was.
In other news, what's everyone doing for the finale? I've got a bunch of friends coming over for the recap show and the episode. We have the Lost part kits (Dharma balloons, plates, nampkins, labels), some people have costumes, luggage with Oceanic tags on them, and a computer in the corner simulating the Swan computer. We're pretty much going all out.

Sounds cool. Not in San Diego by chance, eh?

If this series just ended with Jack sitting alone on the beach, cooking breakfast, looking off in the distance and imagining what still-living friends are up to out there, and Silas from Deadwood sits down next to him and says he's gonna find a way to kill him, well, I'd be ok with that.
I'm sure it won't be that, but I'd be ok with something that simple and quiet, and mildly unsettling.

LONG ways off. North Bay, up in Ontario. But hey, you're welcome to stop by if you can make it :thumb:
Just finished handing out invitations as well. Printed out Oceanic boarding passes for everyone that's coming.
And doctor - the series finale mirroring the season 5 finale's opener is a pretty popular theory as far as I know. The idea that, now its started, history will repeat itself forever.
