More questions than answers tbh. A little underwhelming but I enjoyed it all the same.

Last episode was slow. I typically dislike Kate centered episodes. Although the scenes with the Temple were all great and provided more insight into some of the mysteries.
So if Sawyer wants to go off and be a douche and Kate wants to be a moron, let them. The less romantic drama the better. It's the last season damn it. I want more M.I.B., Temple, Sickness, and island history.

Up til now, I've been rather disappointed in the 6th season. Not that it's been bad per se, rather the fact its been filled with build up episodes that haven't revealed all that much has been a little aggravating.
Tonights episode though. Damn. Probably one of the best episodes of Lost I've seen yet. Sure, it didn't reveal too much, but there are really only three big questions that haven't been answered yet. What was so good about this episode were the twists, and how it feels like things are finally building up to a climax that might actually be worth the 6 years of cockteases we've had to put up with.
And a prediction. I'm gonna say Hurley will be the only character left alive after the end of the show. At the very least, he'll be the one who takes Jacob's place, considering his alternate self is very Jacob like, and he seems to be getting groomed for the role by the man himself.
Sayid, though. I doubt very seriously he'll see the end of the series. Considering how his alternate timeline self succumbs to the same fate his real world self has, whereas everyone else seems to confront and overcome their inner demons in the alternate timeline, makes me think he's destined to die in probably the penultimate episode. I'm betting after one last minute redeeming event that costs him his life.
Anyway, good episode tonight. Now I just want to see how it all ends.

I disagree.
I felt that the earlier episodes this season were making progress in the storyline, but this one just muddled about and pissed me off.
And they killed off a whole bunch of people, except the ones that I actually want to see die (Jack & Kate).

Yeah, I was severely disappointed they killed off Dogan so quickly. I was hoping he'd survive the character winnowing until the very end.
He's still around in the alternate timeline at least, though I'm not sure what that's about yet, or how their more mature, semi-well adjusted selves are gonna fit in. Maybe it's some best-of-all-possible-futures type scenario, and some of them get pulled in to finish what their other selves failed to do during the course of the series. From what I've read, the flash-overs supposedly end about a 3rd of the way into the season, so whatever happens there will have to happen soon.

Yes, please make the alt timeline stop...NOW. It is just excruciatingly bad. I think the writers got too clever for their own good. Even if they resolve the alt timeline in an interesting way, the lame scenes that it took to get there were a complete waste of time. Kate's on the run, Jack has family issues, Locke's in a wheelchair, Sayid's running from his past...haven't we already been through this? Completely pointless. And if I see one more pathetic, uninteresting cameo (Ethan, Dogen, Keamy, etc.), I will personally send another tsunami to Hawaii.

I think the point is to show that even without the island, all these characters are intertwined. They're destined to meet one way or another.
And even though everyone's been calling it an "Alternate Timeline/Reality", the writers have said it isn't. I'd be happy if they went away too - more on island time seems better to me. But apparently they're going to end up tying into the main story at some point. No idea how.

The most interesting scene for me so far was in the pilot, when alternative Jack gets up and goes to the airplane bathroom and looks curiously at himself in the mirror. Very subtle, but it seemed to suggest that he had complete memory of the island, and it was fading quickly as he thought it was a dream.

That's a good point. The Jack we know had his appendix taken out on the island by Juliet. Remember that?
