I think Ben has become the most interesting one one the show this past season.
I can't decide if he seems smugly confident or psychopathic.

Oddly, Ben has become the only character on the show who is remotely interesting anymore. He's pretty badass when you think about it.

Yup. Balls of pure iron. Locke is an interesting understudy though. I feel he'll never make it and yet I want him to.
Everyone else is either a wimp, dumb, gullible, forgettable or plain simple.
Though come to think of it the Desmond-Sayid double team is pretty hot. Those flowing locks and rugged chins. Plus they both seem like they can get shit done.
Speculation time:
Some of the Others have been on the Island for 100s of years I reckon. That dude that met Ben and Locke as children hasn't aged a bit, and the 1st time he met Ben he was in some pirate's get-up or something. I reckon they arrived with The Black Rock and were possibly the first people to discover the Island.
Which is clearly a spaceship of some sort.

I'm wondering how in the hell Jack is going to get all of the Oceanic Six to agree to go back to the Island. Kate made her opinion on the subject pretty damn clear from the beginning and it won't help that in Kate's 'dream', Claire warned her not to bring Aaron back there. And I seriously doubt that Desmond will even consider leaving his beloved Penny for any reason whatsoever. Unless, of course, Penny agrees to go along and I don't know if the Island will allow that.
And wtf is up with Walt? He made a bunch of ghostlike appearances to a few on the Island during the past several years, which I thought was something only dead people could do. Yet he made it back to the States with his dad so obviously he's alive. Does this mean that Walt's gotta go back too? Do I still have to use spoiler tags? Pain in the ass.
I also must have missed something (which wouldn't be unusual) because I don't know how/when Locke became Jeremy Bentham. Was this mentioned in a previous episode? Plus; I can't imagine him of all people ever leaving the Island for any reason. Ohwate; yes, of course he'd leave the island if he thought that it was integral to the Island's survival that the Oceanic 6 return asap.
I agree that the Others are still somewhat of an enigma; but I doubt that Black Rock is a spaceship. I think it's just another 'special' place on the Island.
I'd like to know how many people survived when the so-called rescue ship blew up. Did Michael finally meet his end; sort of his atonement for having killed AnaMaria & Libby? Or did Jack's dad manage to get Mike off the boat in time?
As far as Sun visiting Penny's dad is concerned; I can believe that Locke/Bentham visited her & told her that Jin was still alive and she needs Whitmore's help in order to find the Island again. But I also think that Sun definitely has some serious plans for revenge in mind.
Something that keeps bothering me is that Ben told Locke that moving the Island was very dangerous; a last resort. Does that mean that the very act of doing so could actually kill everyone on the Island? Or that it might end up materializing someplace dangerous, like inside another island or something?
I thought the series was only going to run for four years for some reason. Probably got it confused with BSG. But have to admit that in spite of all the frustrations I'm looking forward to season five.
P.S. I like the way the series has of causing you to kind of forget some the the past characters from the beginning of the series, then suddenly throws in a little reminder. Like when Hurley makes his final chess move and then says good-bye to Mr. Eko. Now that's a character I'd like to see return to the series.

Dia - Desmond isn't one of the Oceanic Six, do I don't think he'd have to go back . I agree about Sun getting revenge - I wonder if she blames Jack and Kate at all for Jin's death, since Kate promised to go get him before the freighter blew, and Jack refused to go back for survivors.
I also found it curious that we never really see what becomes of Rose and Bernard (IIRC Rose was adamant that she wanted to leave the island, especially if Locke was staying), or Daniel and the folks on the raft. They were headed for the freighter, but would have turned back for the island when it blew. Are we to understand that they just got lost and died at sea? I know Rose and Bernard weren't with the second group of people Daniel shuttled to the freighter, and I didn't see them on the freighter, nor were they hanging out with Juliet on the island. Where did they go?
Next season I predict: Hoteh Juliet/Sawyer scene.

I believe Rose and Bernard are staying on the island because the island cured Rose's cancer.
And btw Dia, the name "Jeremy Bentham" has not been mentioned before the finale, so that's sort of the new big mystery going into season 5. Why is Locke now Jeremy Bentham, and why doesn't anyone want to say his real name?
And yes, Michael is dead, confirmed by the writers. When Christian said "you can go now" he meant it in the most final way possible. ;)

But when Hurley was talking to Walt, he mentioned Michael as one of the people who where still on the island and for whom the Oceanic Six were lying.
SubJeff on 3/6/2008 at 16:36
That's just dumb. The writers are idiots. Why tell people that when we could find out? And how can Jin be alive if Micheal is not?
Dia:
The Island is a spaceship, not the Black Rock.
And the use of the name is probably so none of the "enemy" (Whitmore's people) know that Locke is around.
bukary on 3/6/2008 at 16:39
So... is Jacob an alien?
BTW, if the island (spaceship?) can "move" and "materialize" suddenly in some other place (or the same place, but later or earlier in time)... that explains polar bears and Black Rock in the middle of the jungle.

Did you notice Hurley's hesitation though? I think he just didn't want to tell Walt that his father
was dead.
By my count, the Oceanic Six are:
Jack
Kate
Hurley
Said
Sun
Aaron (Claire/Kate's baby)
Brethren - Rose stated clearly last season that she didn't want to stay on the island, partly because death (her cancer) was a natural part of life, and then later she said she trusted Jack and wouldn't stay if Locke was going to be in charge. Bernard was confused by this, but eventually agreed.
Also, how the hell does Jack/Claire's dad (Christian) figure into this whole silly thing?
