Since I can safely consider this a cat health/vaginal hygiene thread, I can use this as a soapbox for a problem I'm currently experiencing.
People. Do what Bob Barker says: spay and neuter your cats.
Right now, just...suddenly...I've got a bunch of feral kittens running around the house eating all the food I lay out for Buddy The Cat and beating him up. My problem stems from ignorant people not fixing their damn animals, and assuming it's a bright thing to do to let a bunch of horny male cats run around the neighborhood. I can't even catch the things. Since they were all born and raised underneath my immediate neighbors' house, they aren't exactly used to human contact.
Also, a small landing strip is preferable to completely shaven.

Renz, I completely agree. People are ignorant and stupid when it comes to animals. My pet peeve, no pun intended.
I've caught strays for years, they start hanging around, use the live trap on them, and take them in. The friendly ones, find a home for them. Feral ones, take to the pound.
Even the crazy little kittens, I've worn gloves as they attack my hand. Only way to deal with them sometimes. You can slowly lure them over with food, crouch down they get used to you. You can eventually tame them. The real hard core ones are basically a lost cause, and I don't have time for that.
Those whack jobs that spray the feral cats and release them, oh yeah they survive, thats about it. Such a great life for them.
There was a stray hanging around a couple of years ago, her kittens ended up on my porch. Brought them all in, and I ended up putting their cute little faces on craigslist to adopt out. It worked.
Animals don't have a choice we do.

Note to self: Make sure my cat has a small landing strip.

I didn't want to reply to this thread thinking it would take away my cat too, well he's gone now, apparently a cat scratched his nose, old cat 11 years, well over 25Kgs (yes an amazing cat of over 55 pounds), good mood, a brother in short, I enjoyed carrying him up stairs (it started to be incapable of climbing them at 7 years old), and he enjoyed it to judging by the purring.
Back to that nose scratch, apparently it made a relapse of FIP, and in about 2 days the situation seemed going from a small decay and lack of appetite to a bad late night ending in a flash death at 6.30AM this 21th November 2009, ending my cat's life so quick I couldn't even react in time to call a vet., no one works that early in this place.
So there he goes away at 11 years, 3 months, 1 day and 1h and 45m of wonderful life, yes he was born at my house.
:nono:
Stab me in the chest and hold my heart in front of me still beating.
I was warned this would happen rater soon than later due to his weight, but you never get prepared for death, is just so fast you can't be ready to see it coming.

Sorry, man. :(

You are never prepared when someone you love, human or animal dies. Its hard. No matter how much we try. We fail. I'm sorry. :( He looks like a Seal point.

I broke down and got a replacement for my ancient camera today, so here's a few links to pics of the monster.
Hah, just bought my girlfriend a digital video camera ( for Christmas) for pretty much the sole purpose of pet pics.
Anyway, cute cat. My kitties are posted in the TTLG Pet thread if you are interested.

Shit. Missed your post. My condolences. I just had to put my best friend/English Bulldog 'Dozer' to sleep on Sept. 30.
I have a 16 y/o Calico cat 'Simba'. She has been way too heavy for a few years now, and now (as of about a year ago) she is scarily thin. Not a good sign.

Hard to let go of a friend, even one that only knows one word and that one incomprehensible. Sorry Martin, 11 years is a good chunk of time.
Good to hear your puss is better Peeper. After all your money spent I would hold off on the landing strip and go for something made of kevlar. Landing strips tend to garner the smell of burned rubber. Funny story.
I used to think nuetering changed a male. Not so. Mine drags up headless squirrels. I'm not cooking it. It has made me wonder what is so tasty about squirrel brains though.
