Hmmm...
An infected animal has never seemed so sexy.
Best of wishes with your cat.

My girlfriend and I work in an Animal Hospital. This wouldn't happen there. At the VERY least, you would NOT have had to pay for all of the bullshit diagnostics that came before the true one. Shame you have such a worthless Vet, though.

They had him unhooked from the drainage for a couple of hours when I visited today, so he was able to stand up and stretch and generally act like a cat while I was there. Still a little wobby, but things continue to proceed better than originally expected. Using the litter pan now too, which he demonstrated by taking a dump while I was there. You're welcome.
The little vest that they have him wearing to keep the tube in place looks like a small version one of those things that they put on racehorses to keep them warm.
Every time I meet a new technician or doctor at that place, they feel compelled to tell me that "he's a really
big cat." Really? I hadn't noticed. Maybe I should have named him Mee-Yao Ming.
I left one of my dirty socks there on Saturday to help him feel more at home, since he likes to stick his nose into my shoes when he naps. The only problem is that they can't find it today. They think that it's getting laundered with one of the towels from his bedding. They owe me a sock!
Kolya, that's the first time I've ever enjoyed reading anything by J.D. Salinger.

Consider too that if you suddenly dropped dead and no one were around to keep feeding it, the cat would eat you.
And if he falls over dead, I'm making myself a new pair of fur lined gloves outta him, so that makes us even.

Wouldn't it have just been easier to get a new cat?
His welfare is my responsibility, and responsibilities aren't supposed to be easy, convenient, or cheap. Clearly I'm un-American for thinking that. While I was there waiting for the test results, there was another pet owner conferring with her husband on the phone about
taking out a loan to pay for her dog's treatment, so it's not just me.

Show us a picture of him, when you can. Sounds like he's doing better. :-)
Just like people, they cost money. Extended family members, we love them, and will do anything for them. To a point. When the quality of life out weighs everything else, it sucks to be a pet owner.
Since 2006, I've lost 3 cats, geriatric cats, one very old, almost 20, to one that was blind, renal failure, to one that had a form of kitty aids.
The oldest of the bunch right now, is 12, and was suffering, sneezing, coughing up crap, drooling, really bad fur, hiding all the time, miserable, I was worried, concerned, WTF are we gonna do? Vet bills, yes.
By chance we changed all the cats food to (
http://naturalbalance.net/) natural balance. Yeah, great lets try another god damn good. That was almost two months ago, we were mixing it in with the other dry, to get rid of it. Didn't notice too much of a dramatic change. At $30.00, do I want to buy it again? We did. WTF, is this the same cat? Buddy's coat is gleaming, shiny, this isn't the same cat, he's better, he's better than he's been in years. He's a happy cat. I usually don't tout much stuff, but, this food, has helped. Read the customer feed back, I stopped on page 7. It helps their weight, fur, so many other things. Higher in protein, no wheat, its a restricted diet. Animals do so well on this food. I'd rather pay a bit more, and save myself a vet trip if I can. For those that are interested in purchasing a better high quality food, and have a better quality of life for my animals, its worth it. I can't say enough about this food. Dogs and cats alike will benefit. This is the food I'm buying from now on.

I am wondering a bit about Luci (my younger female cat), she's been having a bit of pain (I assume so'coz she meows in that "OW!" manner) when she takes a dump (not always, nor that dramatic, but from time to time).
Hrrmmmm...
Peeper - Always happy to oblige, good to hear your big pussy (;)) is getting better :)
Saaaay...anyone know if crossing the border from Mexico to Canada with pets do they make a fuss out of it?, there's a good chance I maaaay go to Canada next year to study my Masters (God knows in what...), and I would not want to have to give away my 2 pretty kitties.
:)

Brokenarts: Yeah, premium food (for cats and dogs) frequently does make a difference. Basic rule: if it's sold in the grocery store, it's shit (nutritionally).
Of course, one of my dogs has a wheat allergy, so they have to get gluten-free food. Man, that shit is expensive.

I'm pretty sure that's the NVIDIA fairy.

In the end, it's really not that attached to it's owner/surroundings.
You know, someone always inevitably brings this up whenever anyone brings up cat-related issues and it really pisses me off. The second point is wrong--apparently Queue has never had a cat that wasn't a piece of shit--and it's disrespectful to the concerns of the original poster. Queue doesn't really deserve the full brunt of my fury here as he's merely the most recent reciter of a tired script, but it's still narrow and insensitive. I'm as leery of anthropomorphizing one's pets as the next guy, but come on.
Also: dogs are just as willing to eat their owners as cats, they just wait a day or two longer. And frankly, if I'm dead I say feast up. I'd consider it my parting gift to the world if my dong on a dinner plate could feed a family of four and their friends and maybe assorted strangers as long as they brought an appetite
edit: and had some Tupperware for leftovers
