I'm aware, but back in 2005, she was Ellen Page.

They need to put out a PS5 60fps patch for this game already. (That or a PC port, which would be even better.)

Now that people are no longer hyped to see a beloved character suffer, I would like to remind the good people of TTLG that Naughty Dog is a crunch studio.

Yeah we know. It sucks. Kinda wild how huge studios like ND, Rockstar and CD Project Red can have hundreds of people working on games for years and still need to crunch. I'm one dude and I churned out Stilt Fella in ~9 months of ~35 hour weeks. No crunch whatsoever! I guess when you got MORE people they all gotta work HARDER!? Anyway, why did I bring this up? Just to brag? Yes! I'm better at making games than most AAA studios!

Yeah, yeah, we know. :p
I had a conversation with an ex-Naughty Dog developer, part of which went something like this:
AF: "Maybe the right thing to do is to just not buy games from crunch studios."
eND: "Try to imagine how that would make one of the developers feel."
That shocked me into silence. Anyway, now I can say, thank goodness for piracy and thank goodness for eBay.

HAHAHA, the only difference with the PS5 "remaster" seems to be just increased Ambient Occlusion. Essentially the upgrade is buying you a rogue-like horde mode, sticky taped together from assets made for the infinitely delayed Factions 2.0 MP mode + plus some "deleted scenes" you can stuff around in.

The only thing stopping this from being as an egregious cash grab as the tLoU 1 remake is that they're only asking a $10 USD upgrade fee vs. $70 USD.

To be honest I probably wouldn't pay $10. I loved the first 10 hours or so, but it dragged so hard at the middle and end that I ended up quitting before the final scene. I also found the bleakness off-putting. Like, why does Naughty Dog want me to hate all of their characters? They made their point about the horrors of war and then didn't stop making it for like 20 more hours, and it felt like a grin Lots of pretty set pieces, though.

The nice thing is you don't need to buy it, because TLoU 2 already has a 60 FPS patch for PS5. The update gives you PS5-specific features like VRR though along with an unlocked frame rate, if that's important to you. The cut levels and commentary are a neat add-on, but that really just means this should have been called a Director's Cut, if not much is in fact being remastered. I don't see the need to get it it, but the fact that it exists as an optional purchase is a good thing.

I'm kinda surprised they're not working on a PC version in parallel, but perhaps it's a matter of system exclusivity.
Sulphur on 29/11/2023 at 13:38
It'll definitely happen, but yeah, they probably want to stagger releases for whatever their reasons are.
