Immersive Sims
An Immersive Sim is a game which uses systems to simulate a believable world, and then builds its gameplay from those intuitive systems.
Because the systems that make up these games are simulations of some mechanic rooted in reality, they tend to be usable for varied purposes and therefore promote emergent gameplay.
It is more of a design philosophy than a genre.

Wasn’t there some supposed top-down Wild West immersive sim coming up? Or is this thread firmly in the camp that an immersive sim must be first-person?
