Eh I don't think that'd be a good fit for PC. It would make the unit a lot more expensive and all the extra power in the box would just be used for VR, you most likely wouldn't get use out of it for your non-VR gaming or computer usage, unlike with a traditional upgrade.

Yeah, it's likely that you'd get more mileage out of a new, beefy graphics card.

You realize they will eventually find you.

How many sold in the second 10 minutes? :p Did virtually everyone who wants a pre-order, already order one? Most importantly, what's the installed base by Christmas? I know people banking on millions of VR systems in homes by December, and 15k just isn't a big dent in that hope.

You should probably tell those people to get back to the real world, a million VR systems at the end of the year isn't just a hope, it's an epic fantasy. Had both the OR and Vive been closer to the $300 mark I'd have considered 500k home VR units a possibility at the end of the year, not likely but possible.
a) It's 1st generation hardware, b) there's no "killer app", c) each kit is quite expensive and d) you need a beefy computer to use it (or a PS4 + extra computing box for that particular kit).
Besides, I have a feeling that a good amount of those 15k are going to VR Cafes that will have the space to properly utilize the various VR headsets & tracking. Those cafes may be able to recoup the initial expenditure of all the hardware required by catering to curious people (who don't want to spend that much on a gaming peripheral).

"The real world" by which I mean mobile free-to-play wouldn't fund them. For better or worse, investment capital is betting heavy on VR.

If they're getting paid by others for shoving out something for VR systems, then they should just enjoy the ride while it lasts. On the other hand, those are not the ones actually banking on millions of VR sets by December, that's the investors trying to make a return by establishing a revenue stream while the tech is still in the early stages. Any developers are obviously hoping they get a massive success, but I doubt they actually expect millions of sales unless they're really disconnected from reality.

Edit: Alright, I just found the (
https://avegant.com/) Avegant Glyph, and for some reason this has gotten me way more excited than VR.
Aha, that's the thing I was referring to in the "VR anticipation" thread:

The one piece of tech I'm really hoping will be successful and end up competing in the same space is the headset that projects the image directly into your eyes. I feel like that's the only approach out of any of this stuff that actually has the potential to feel completely real.
If you actually buy one, please report back :)
