We know that the Quintus Family is called "Quinus" in the German version of "Thief". But while I was replaying "Cragscleft Prison" a few days ago I noticed that Cutty says "Quintus"

Another severe case of die linke Hand weiß nicht, was die rechte tut: check out the TG briefing video of Undercover (b10.avi) at 0:46. The Garrett voiceover says Constantine and pronounces the silent e like in Christine. This is so dumb I'd like to strangle the quality assurance department.

While we are at it, in T2's b01.avi the City's infamous prison Cragscleft suddenly was transmuted to a drug market: Crackgleft. AAARGH!

Well, some translation errors are ok, and they are not too bad in Thief (some names, who cares...). Some other games are miles worse:
e.g. No One Lives Forever: The signs in the Eastern Berlin Levels... "Beachtung, kein Trespassing", and so on...
e.g. Hitman: Codename47: Voice in Cutscene: "Nice place"; Translation: "Einen Drink bitte"... I think it can't get any worse ! OK, my English is not the best as well, but I don't get paid for it and I'm still learning...

No translation error is okay! Errors and mistakes happen, but do not accept them as a matter of course.

I've met the german translation manager for Thief 1 & 2 and he's a really great and smart guy. What the translators *were* was extremely busy. One translation department (in germany, many miles and several time zones from thief development) did all the Eidos games that came out that christmas, and the translations didn't come in until pretty late. I'm not defending typos, or the translation department's right to make them, but your statements suggest that you might not understand the process. Because my german is so miserable, i was admittedly inattentive to the text in the German version of Bonehoard. We had a german tester in house at LG who was very competent, but he could only do so much. It's very likely that he reported that bug but it wasn't fixed because voice bugs are the most expensive & time consuming bugs in the game to fix. So don't strangle QA either, ok? imagine what thief3 would be like if you did that

Sorry, my horses bolted. I was so irate because the mistakes are just especially striking in the otherwise immaculate game (TG).

http://www.ttlg.com/fmp/) T2x. BTW, I'm the main translation guy there and juggling with timezones is everyday life, since we are all spread around the globe.
I also once lead a small team through the the complete translation of a FM, so I imagine I know at least a bit of the difficulties one may encounter. But the greater project is yet to be coped with!
