Yeah, I guess I'm in the exactly same boat on this topic. I really like the original textures and models and therefore I don't want to install texture packs that alter models and textures (expect from the high resolution/higher polycount of course :D )
Sadly, I'm not skilled in 2D texture work at all to help out. :/
But I really appreciate the work you and the community has done so far. When I look on the last posts on the thread you even took the time to remake some object models, because they aren't shaped exactly like the original. You definitely want to keep the new ressources as faithful as possible to the original.

I did that - technical reasons. might bring it back should they get resolved.
also, not every thing is an intentional display of sheer awesomeness - some are anomalies, discrepancies, or outright bugs. remember, the original devs were still just people, trying to meet deadlines, working late hours, and using crummy tools.
and as mentioned, we have a bunch of options available here, so if you are unsatisfied with the artistic direction of hdmod, you can try out other packs, like EP2 or NecroAge. or TFix light, if Constantine's starry hole is your thing.
I totally understand that but I mean that was definitely intentional on the original developers part. This whole level is full of those moments. But yes thanks for explaining, I still commend all the work the volunteers put in. I just feel that some things were lost in areas. I saw a few examples where some textures weren't replaced which I assume is because none of y'all felt that there was a good replacement and again I thank you for those examples. I just feel like some of the things I noticed shouldn't have been changed at all. Like why have a wood or metal texture on something that is supposed to be a giant book? Or why re-texture the ring in the sink with a stone texture? Just keep the originals in that case if you couldn't find a good replacement for it. Just my opinion though so idk, thanks again though for responding.

these are good questions, actually - I suggest you ask/post in the (

Waste of time this post that should just get taken down. Keep up the work on the HDmod Gecko :D. I use it and am happy with what work has been done.

I wouldn't go that far - as mentioned, a few proper issues have been pointed out, like that ring in the Little Big World drainage pipe.

Gecko never said he was going to make a 100% correct version of the originals so the very negative tone of the topic starter does not belong here.
And why opening a new thread for this? A forum can go downhill very fast with allowing people like this.

I'm assuming Gecko started the work years ago because it was for himself and how he wanted it to be, and was nice enough to share his work.
