Yes, that part remains in the PS2 version.

It's not great for many reasons, but one annoying problem was with the controller. I kept veering off to the right- very unhealthy when going up ladders.

Yes, but any censorship would be more likely Sony's fault than that of America.
That seems a very silly thing to say - obviously the anthropomorphic personification of the country hasn't decided to censor the game - but any censorship on Sony's part would be due to the perceived conservativism in the country, not 'for the hell of it'. But it's a good thing the game hasn't been pointlessly censored.
Incidentally - has something happened recently to warrant the unlikely amount of activity in the previously mostly dead Deus Ex forums?

I meant something more along the lines of government censorship, but yeah (that rare, if it even happens). I agree with your post.

King's point was specifically that the Japaneses government/culture/corporate owners does/do NOT have the same hangups about sex that we do in America.
I'm not sure I entirely agree, though, I think at least to a small extent some Japanese companies overestimate the "conservatism" of Americans. Nintendo's extreme rejection of violence in its American censorship process being one example

I've heard Japan is in certain respects much more conservative than America, but when you've got different countries with different traditions the term "conservative" is deficient. A nose piercing, for example, is "edgy" for an American but traditional for some hunter-gatherers.

In America perhaps, though of course other countries still have governmental censorship bodies (like the UK).

I wouldnt be surprised if they just didnt add it out of lazyness, I cant imagine censoring it though.

Good point
