Thier origin was never explained. They were never really talked about at all. Have we ever found out anything concerning them?

No it wasn’t in Deus Ex, but it did in Deus Ex invisible war.(or at least I think it did, it’s been awhile since I’ve played it, I'm 85% sure they did though)

Ha! They're monkeys! That's the thing: maybe they have super-brains, but they don't know anything about any alien civilization because they grew up in cages. Never been to Sector 4 myself, but they lock the blast doors because they're doing more than cloning down there.

There's a terminal in Area 51, above the huge spider-bot that has several interesting mails on it, one is from Bob Page to Lucius DeBeers and if I remember rightly, says the Greys are GM monkeys, mentioning that everyone thinking that they're aliens provides a useful distraction to the public to what's really going on. When I next play through, I'll master Computers or take screen shots and read them at a bit of leisure as there are 5 mails, all quite long and I've never found a Username/Password for that terminal.
Unless someone else wants to do it first :D

Yeah, i remembered that conversation with the mechanic. I thought he mentioned something about them not being able to run the reactors before he mentioned the monkey part though, sort of insinuating that the reactors being of "another" origin.

We pretty much have to assume that any "monkey" references are misdirection or speculation, because too many things depend on them being actual alien clones-- their ability to fire energy blasts, the blue fusion reactors, and the infusion of alien DNA into the Dentons to allow the implants to take.

Hmm, perhaps someone should do an in-depth report on them, like the one done on the MIB's...

Really? The Dentons got injected with alien DNA?
I like the way they did it in Akira, most of them die or become vegetables, but some live on.

Great, so people who've never read the Akira graphic novel will think it's somehow related to alien DNA, when its clearly not.
Great use of context man.
