Do you use SecuRom or any other protection on the games?Yes, some games got some kind of protection. That is on request from developers and publishers.
However, the activation limit that may be on this protection is easy reset by an email to support@gamersgate.com.
ANY GAME BOUGHT ON GG IS YOURS TO DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL AS MANY TIMES YOU LIKE!

Does gamersgate mean horrible drm like steam?
Stop spreading lies. As DRM goes Steam is pretty tame.

I'm not spreading lies - the fact that you gush over valve has clouded your judgement. Mind you dare not anyone disagree with you anyway.
With steam you do not own the game, you cannot sell it on and are basically "borrowing it". I do not consider that tame and nor do many others.

Technically you have never owned a single game you have ever bought. Just a thought. :p Edit: also, the Bargain Deals Discussion Thread exists for a reason.

Does gamersgate mean horrible drm like steam? And what about direct to drive? or actually it seems only that gamersgate has the offer (although not exactly what they advertise :laff:)
Since this is now in the 'correct' place.
GamersGate is not like Steam. You'd don't need an always on internet connection (or to rely on an 'offline' mode that 'spontaneously' switches itself off bricking your games until it can dial the mothership). Generally you need to be connected to buy and download, and install the games only. It doesn't use a client, every game has an executable installer. Many, but not all, of the games- especially those published by Paradox themselves- have no DRM at all after this and you can simply copy install folders from one computer to another if you want. Generally speaking you do not need to worry about GamersGate spontaneously deciding to nuke your games from orbit, or about them uploading unspecified data from your computer to the mothership. You'll have to update your games manually, though most will update from a retail patch so there's less waiting and you don't need to worry about having your saves trashed by a badly timed auto patch.
As noted previously, some third party titles do have DRM on them- especially 1C games such as King's Bounty or Men of War. In some but not all cases this is noted on the game's page on GG.

Yes thanks - in fact i read up a bit more as i was interested in penumbra and wanted to support the developers. Their deal worked :cheeky:
Like you say, it seems it only needs an internet connection on installed (although i have only downloaded and burnt to dvd so far) so that is good.
From the developers forum they say that it doesn't have drm, just a serial code - so assuming that is correct (and applies to this gamersgate version and they weren't referring to linux or mac) then that is good :)
And with gamersgate offering reset of activation limits on securom games if you email their support that seems a nice gesture at least.
Still, I wouldn't normally buy games as downloads, but this is certainly a nicer way to go about it (as is good old games).

i got me penumbra for linux :)
works very good, my laptop can handle it though not very strong in the gpu departement.

What do you have, mothra?

I've yet to use gamersgate, but i was just looking on t he site and decided to look up thief. They have both TDS and TDP.... TDP is only 10 bucks (USD). Not sure if the game hasn't been tampered with and whatnot, but that sounds like a great deal.

Is Thief-Gold or The Dark Project more rare/expensive? I mean non-digital download?
