N'Al's entry, thus:
Location: United Kingdom
Shop: Zavvi
Item: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Price: £5.00 (RRP more than that, I'm sure)
is no longer true. It's £10. Damnit
N'Al on 15/4/2008 at 21:57
Hrm, that's crap.
If it helps at all, the Zavvi I saw this at was the one at Fulham Broadway Tube Station. Prices shouldn't really be different in other Zavvis, but you never know.

Just bought Audiosurf because it was cheap. I held off before because I wasn't if I'd like it or not. Turns out I do and it's awesome! Well worth the $4.99.
Thanks, Ulu

This is more of a discussion, and yes a bargain in the process if anyone is interested.
We got a bundle package at Best Buy. For my new shop, I need a new computer, nothing hefty, no gaming machine.
We got an Emachine plus a new monitor, we switched out the monitor for a clearance 22" Westinghouse monitor. As long as its bundled with the eMachine, all for $299.00
The eMachine alone was $199.00.
AMD Athlon 2650e processor
1.6 GHz
1 GB DDR2 memory
Nvidia 6150e
windows XP with SP3
Lots of nice little features with this deal
Comes with keyboard, mouse, (mouse is crap, who cares), and also speakers.
So, the big monitor is staying at home, we'll switch out and take one of the other monitors to work! I've got a new gaming monitor. Killer deal.:D

So, GalCiv 1 Ultimate or GalCiv 2 basic?
What's the better purchase in this weekend of freakish deals?
doctorfrog on 13/12/2008 at 22:06
I'd say GalCiv II, definitely, the difference between the two games is a whole generation of PC games.
If you buy II, note that the two expansion packs will set you back $45, and they're significant upgrades. Note the discussion in the "No Used Games For You!" first, though.
I've also seen BOTH GalCivII: Dread Lords and GalCivI Ultimate in Target stores for $10, so don't be in a rush.
There is a certain benefit to the older GalCiv, though, since it is older software and updated as much as it ever will be, you won't be beholden to Stardock for updates. Buy the off-the-shelf edition, and you probably won't even have to activate it.
Honestly, Space Rangers is the better deal, there's no off-the-shelf version of that game that doesn't have a particularly aggressive form of SecuROM.

Oh, I'm DEFINITELY getting Space Rangers, but there was some dilemma as to which GalCiv to spring for. General consensus seems to be GalCiv 2, though, so I think I'll be getting that one.

I went ahead and bought Stalker in Steam for $4.99. I have not played this game. I don't have time for Stalker because L4D, Fallout 3 and GTA4 is keeping me VERY busy but I think at some point in the future, I will have time to play Stalker.. and I'd kick myself for not getting it at $4.99! So there!
