Dark Messiah is. I don't know you well, but CSI isn't my taste so I am unqualified to recommend/naysay it.

Thanks.
I checked out some reviews on Gamespot and it seems that the CSI games are incredibly easy, not presenting much of a challenge at all, so I may skip them. Then again, they didn't like Dark Messiah all that much either, so who knows.

I played one of the CSI games (Three Dimensions of Murder specifically) and while it was actually promising, I painted myself into a corner when I mistakenly did not collect certain pieces of evidence that were since lost forever. It pissed me off kinda bad (I hate unwinnable scenarios) so I ended up uninstalling and never going back to it.

I certainly feel you there; I'd hate it if that happened. I think I'll pass on them. Dark Messiah still sounds intriguing, though.

I'm not really qualified to say anything about them, but I was curious in getting CSI NY the game, and after what I saw/read of it, I decided not to... The CSI NY game is like an adventure game, with like static backgrounds, not a first person game as I was expecting to get from this kind of game. Got a bad score too.
Taken from IGN: "CSI: NY - The Game isn't as exciting as the source material it's based on. Due to the nature of the game, it can't encompass the action or dynamic camera angles of the TV show. In addition, there's no action or gunplay here. At best, CSI: NY might get your interest with its "whodunit" aspect, but overall, the more you play the more you realize how much of a chore it actually is. All of the episodes are extremely linear and do not let you deviate from the forced path. When everything is said and done, it's just a very monotonous experience."

It's interesting that you were expecting an FPS; I assumed from the start that it would be an adventure-esque detective game (since that's what the show is about) which is why it drew my eye.

Um dude... a 3d game can be an adventure game, it doesn't have to be the way they made it. Why would I settle for less? I'm not challenging the game as an adventure game, only that it was some poorly made, static game.

I think he's arguing against your knocking the format, as opposed to simply the gameplay. He isn't opposed to static games. He's been interested in several in the past few months, actually.

I don't quite see what you mean, but my point was that I wanted something with action and something that moves.. not a static game.. The way he worded his post it seemed like he thought a 3d game wasn't capable of being an adventure game. Thus, I said that they could have made it a first person game, not a static game.
Edit: I think I see now what he meant... But I also didn't say FPS in my last post, I said First person.

Actually, I misread your post...I thought you were expecting something more resembling a first person
shooter, but what you really said was that you were expecting a 3D, first person
adventure game.
But gunsmoke is also right...I don't mind static games (I grew up on them), as long as they're done well. From what I've read, the CSI games could have remained static and still been good games had they been a lot more challenging.

Well, it depends. Personally, I'd rather have a great game with static screens than a poor game with pretty 3D visuals.
