You're assuming I'm doing this with even a hint of seriousness. This just in: I'm not. I'm screwin around, trying to learn shit. I don't mean this to be some super-secure "stores-government-secrets" type program, and I wouldn't suggest anyone use it for that purpose. Sure, you can hide your porn stash from your parents or keep your nosy roommate from stealing your term paper or some shit, but that's about it.
Long story short: I'm doing this to learn. I don't need it to be ultra-secure. Hell, the only reason I chose to implement AES was because I wanted to see how I could do it.
Not that I took offense to your suggestion, not in the least. It just seems to be a common misconception to those who view this thread. I may look to design my own algorithm some day, even then, it probably won't be done with any sort of seriousness or what have ya. Basically, I'm a kid with a new toy; I just want to learn how to use it, and like to show others.

Completely agree. Of course poor encryption can mean poor security - but even strong encryption is useless if that's the only strength of the system. (I don't think you're disagreeing with that - but perhaps my statement was a bit ambiguous).
