Hi.
I have one technical problem:( . I have version 1.17 of the game, 2GHz CPU, 256MB RAM and 64MB GeForce 4 MX and I experience heavy slowdowns and (worse) program crashes in the level of town Arx. I decreased details but crashes continue and are quite often. Can some patch fix it or should I buy better PC? Any suggestions? Thank you very much.
PS:The game is great! It doesn´t force me to play til 5 A.M. like Ultima Underworld but it´s still great.

And my OS are Windows XP if it helps somehow... Nobody ever had the same problem? I´ve seen similar behaviour of the game at my friend´s PC too.

The recommended system specs are as follows:
Windows XP/ME/2000/98
256mb Ram
Intel Pentium III 900 mhz or better
32mb DirectX 8.0 Graphics card.
Your system is more than adequate to play Arx, so it can't be that. Maybe re-installing it may help? Don't forget to backup your save games first.

It seems that level with Arx city is too complex for my computer. Is there not higher patch than 1.17?

Have you tried disabling your virus checker? I've read that, that should help stop the crashing. It gave me this info, either before installing the game or before playing, i can't remember. Basically it's saying: Disable all your programs running in the background. Just don't disable your firewall! I haven't seen any patches above 1.17 yet.
As a side note, you really need to add more memory and get a better card. You can get a 128mb version of your card really cheap. Another 256mb of system memory won't break the bank either.

That video card might well struggle a little. I have a proper (not MX) GF4, and it found the game (and especially the city) pretty heavy going.
1.17 is the final patch, and it fixed most of the crashes for most people, but I think it's still not entirely stable.
I can't really help, other than to point out that you probably want to keep the detail levels turned down with a GF4MX (unless Arx is actually more CPU-bound? You do have a significantly faster CPU than I do.)

I vote video card. Arx has bump mapping and all sorts of lighting effects. That card is Direct X 7 compliant. I couldn't get ARX running fast until my 256 MB 9600 was installed.
