And that is indeed where Deus Ex is moving towards - although the example with a big room is a bit misleading. How about
the world!? You could become a dicator, boss of a multinational company or a janitor. Or save the world from whoever became the boss of that evil multinational company instead of you.

Or, of course, the underpaid paperboy, who brings the newspaper with the headline of the supervillain taking over the world, this very newspaper, he delivers to the superhero who will save the world. Again, you're just the paperboy. Yes, I can see it all clear now ;):cheeky:

tripwood - GREAT idea! It would be extremely cool to have a world where everything is going on in a time-limited-real-time-time system, or TLRTT (pronounced Tuulert) for short. It would add replay value, atmosphere, realism, and extra possibilities. For example, imagine breaking into a Versalife-style corporate building, then half-way through the second floor infiltration, a dozy office worker walks in and switches on the lights, as it's 8:30 and work is starting!

only problem i can see would be missing the missions, as you were too busy looking around, that you have no time left to do anthing at all. i think it's a really great idea that future game makers should develop. the only game i've seen with this was some Batman game for the PSX, but it sucked..

If it was a real-time game then you would have to have a 'sleep' option, like the FF games, to pass the time. As with the Versalife missions, if you wanted to go at night you couldn't simply sign in and have a pass since the place is closed, meaning you'd have to break in and sneak about. But then you'd have a greater opportunity to steal things. But if you went during the day the place would be packed and you would be free to walk about as a visitor, but you couldn't steal stuff of course, and there would be more conversations and information to gather.
Sounds good to me!:)

Ahem. Sanity-Clause, (ole Marx Brothers joke, heheh) that particular line, "THIS IS A COMPUTER GAME!" is copyright, King Ronald productions from when I first joined, and was trying to (and suceeded in) pissing off Odo 324, TheDoz and The Shroud, from the Thief forums.
No, seriously. Check out the thread "Weapons/Items Ideas" in the Thief forums, and start reading from a couple of months ago.
(I'll be sending my lawyers............)
