The Future. Of Deus Ex. - by King Ronald

Now, since the developers say that DE2 will be about a third shorter, but have more dialogue/multiple choice shenanigans, will the ultimate edition of this be
Deus Ex 5: The Room of Possibilities?
In this, you play......well, whoever you want really. Over 10 million characters are available to play. You can alter anything and everything about them. Even height.
Once in-game, you play out the adventure in a single, white room. Cubic, about ten feet long and eight feet wide (work it out). One lightbulb lights the barren room. Directly opposite from your starting location, is another thing. It can be whatever you want. Anything. Even a R2D2 unit. With wings. After that, it's up to you. You can do anything you want. Go anywhere (within the room), speak anything. The possibilities are endless.
Multiple choice endings are present.
Ending 23: You shoot the other person.
Ending 49: You starve to death.
Ending 82: You slump in the corner, and dribble.
Ending 158: You simply shut your eyes, and do nothing.
Ending 800: (My favourite) The tedium is broken by a Zombie-Mecha-Greasel-On-A-Karkian-with-a-Gepgun, which blows open the wall, and you ride off into the sunset.
Ending 1453: The other thing killls you.
Ending 1929: You break down and weep at mans eternal inhumanity to man.
Ending 4 million: For no reason, you turn into a brick. The end.
IS THIS THE FUTURE OF GAMING?????

they really shouldn't have made it shorter.... I Like long EPIC games. Alas. I hope its not too bad.

I think what Warren said was there were fewer missions....... But in another thread we discussed this and decided that it may result in a shorted game for some, but for the hardcore players it might actually be longer. Because althoguh there will be less missions, the world will be larger, with many more posabilities to choose from. If you choose to follow the story linearly it will be shorter, but explore a little, live inthe world and who knows how much gameplay we could have! Kind of an exciting idea.

Indeed.

I don't like the idea of Bigger worlds. In DX the Liberty Island mission was kinda annoying. The Reason, it was so big. I mean to go from one end of it to the other took like 4 minutes of actually gameplay time. Big deal you might say, Just Look at hells kitchen, or the ocean lab. However Hells Kitchen had Lots of Sub maps in it. All big changes of scenary. I guess thats what i'm saying. Ionstorm need to avoid using the same texture all over a map. It gets tiring on the eyes as well as gameplay. I like have a very diverse world. A good example is the gas Station. When you start out your in a wasteland, it looks like the remains of a freeway/sewer. But when you go through a tunnel your at a deserted Gas Station, you see, a few ememies as well as Multiple paths to take/explore. Area 51. The first part is outside, the second part in the bunker, round tunnels. Third Part, is a lab, with water, and more "puzzles" rather than enemies, Fourth part is a Large Complex, that has its own 'sections' each with its unique characteristic. Lots of Varied, terrain/objects. Hong Kong got kinda annoying too. It was big, but the atmosphere was Identical EVERYWHERE. Even in side of Versalife/compund/and Maggie Chows place. Everywhere the same Music, textures, arrangements very boring. Versalife Lvl 2 was good though. THe idea of Seperate parts of a big map is ok, but when they all flow into one, it gets tedious. Ah, there i go another opinion. Oh well.

I remember being a little dissapointed at the fact that I couldn't ride the underwater submersible yet it was used to propell me to the next stage.

Quoting from the preview of DX2 in my July issue of PCGamer:

One planned feature dropped from DX2 is Halo-like driveable vehicles. The team decided that they wouldn't suit DX2's claustrophobic indoor environments.

Powercrazy, I am surprised you found Hong Kong bland and repetitive. I thought it was far less repetitive then other missions such as the Mole People tunnels, the Catacombs and the Cathedral to name a few.
