Okay, I'm sure the people that come here know that not to long ago the only activity in this particular forum was me asking for UW sound help. Then suddenly, nothing.. Silence.. I never did get the sound to work, but I'm not going to ask about that anymore. If I'm going to play through UW I'll just have to learn to live without midi music. Thing is, I got me a new comp which comes with the wonderful Windows ME!!! I'm just wondering how to enable EMS in windows ME. Whenever I go to my config.sys it's just blank. So there's nothing to edit. It's strange..but this also occurs on another comp I've deal with that had Windows ME..so I'm sure it's not out of the ordinary. Sorry for so many annoying questions, but I promise that this will be the last. I don't mean to waste this forum with stuff like this.

You can't access Real DOS-Mode in WinME. However, there is help at hand, since you're not too keen on making a bootdisk. Besides, I've followed the following process and have found it to be quite useful. (

If you did a search on WinME in this forum you would have noticed the following thread: (

Also, I did a search on your soundcard, which you mentioned in an earlier thread, and it didn't look like legacy emulation was an option. A SB-Live is very cheap nowadays, so I would consider getting one, or some other card with known legacy emulation. You shouldn't have to live without sound for the underworld games, as I strongly believe that the game is not the same without it.

WinME is still 16/32 bits, therefore you DO can access the Real DOS-Mode, despite Micro$oft is stating the opposite although it's a mess to get!
Those kind of trickery are to make you think it's a kind of 32 bits system : it's false, you only got trouble to access the Real DOS-Mode!

Its not so tricky. That page that I mentioned above has some very clear and simple instructions.
