Just in case anyone missed it.

Just to be confusing. I've set up a (
http://thief.backpackit.com/login) BackPack
UserName: thief
You already know the Password. It's like a writeboard, but with extra project management bits. I've imported our writeboard (You can get at it from the writeboard tab at the top.) I'll try and keep an eye on both and keep them up to date. See how you get on. If the BackPack isn't too fiddly we should consider migrating.
-edit-
oh cool, they're linked and update each other (backpack references the writeboard). Use which you'd prefer.

This Backpack thing looks pretty useful. Time to go and stick my idea in it...
As for the project lead, I don't think we need one, at least not yet. What might be better is to just vote on any tough decisions, rather than having one person with ultimate power.
Although if we do decide to have a project lead, Ascottk would get my vote too.
Edit: I didn't realise how long the stuff I put on the backpack was :erg: is there any way to change the text size?

Until now we seem to be 8 taffers who would like to take part in this:
Ascottk: Propably lead, Textures , ...(?)
Crispy: Writing
Glaswolf: Editing
HansCZ: probably In for Textures and Soundtrack
Jay Petit: Editing, webpresence(?)
Rantako: Editing, Story
STiFU: Soundtrack(If we want one), Modeling, Editing(?)
Ziemanskye: Editing(?), Modeling (?)
I could also do some scripting.
Ziemanskye definately gets my vote for art direction :thumb:

I'd like to help too, maybe concept art, or general art direction ... ? Also, modelling, texturing etc. I can use the editor too, I just find scripting a bit of a chore :)
(I need to finish what I'm working on first though ...) :grr:
I was going to suggest concept art/direction for str8g8. Here's the TDS loading screen I replaced with str8g8's City art (for Realist):

I can maybe help; I'm just learning T3Ed now, but if you need some "youngblood" . . . (I just want to say that I'm pretty a newbie at map-making)
But if you have enough editors, then just say and I'll continue working on my FM.
This is a community project :D You're welcome to contribute any which way you can.

Ok thats cool! But i think we still need some more guys! Lets just wait some more time before we start planning to much, because if we did we could end up with a too long plot or vice versa.

And I think multiple people can work on a level, more or less as Jay said
I thought that there might be technical problems with shipping scripts and custom archetypes, but if you say it is possible to work with all that stuff on multiple pcs, then I am perfectly of the same oppinion as you guys.
But Rantako!! That text you put in there is really impressiv!! Wow!!!!! That is DEFINITELY COOL! :) This background could lead to a really delightfull thief-story! I recommend to all of you to read that text because we could build up some real nice plot on that, which would be a "true" sequel to Thief 3.
When i was finished with that textured i directly got some ideas about the main plot. ill post it to the blackpack.
Btw lets always add the name to the notes, because it would be usefull for referring to a quote later on.

Thanks, STiFU! :D I wasn't really sure how it would be received.

I think the best way to get around that would be to build this with a fresh install on everyone's comp (maybe of NH's T3enhancEd if it's out in time) so that we don't get conflicting filenames on different computers.

Ok my ideas are on the backpack. Its a 5 missions plot now. Perhaps you guys might like it. Str8t8 could do some nice comic stripes for some sequences and we could do some voiceacting stuff for them.

A new install would be ok, but as far as i know no one has found out how to share custom archetypes and scripts, which would be the main problem I see.

Triggerscripts can be distributed. I had to do this a few times already :p Rename the custom scripts (TS_4200 into TS_5200) & use a hex editor to change the number within the script. For this project we could use TS_6*** or TS_7*** so we know which scripts are which.

Hey guys...just a quick post to confirm I'm in.
Here's what I am willing to do
1. Textures
Any textures at all for BSP, and simple texturing for smeshes. Not sure I'm up for a full character skin....Will post a few samples if needed
2. Tunes.
I'll whip up an ambient track tonight...I can put it up somewhere for people to listen to.
so I will be here. I will get cracking once somebody can give me some well-defined tasks. I'm not much of a leader/planner guy :). I'd enjoy to just do as told.
(These tasks can also be test textures to see if I make textures that fit the general direction of the art decisions)
Will start reading up on what we got storywise maybe this will allow me to think about texture pack consistency elements....
I'm in, anyway :)

I'm sending a copy of T3Enhanced to ascottk. I'm a bit tight on cash at the moment, (running a home business is painful)but I am willing to send out a DVD with T3EnhancED to at least 3 more people tomorrow. Decide amongst yourselves who should get it and then PM me the mailing addresses. :)

I'm another newbie to the editing scene but I'm really enjoying messing round with the editor and making a cheeky level and I'd love to get involved and help with a community project in whichever respect you could use me :-)
I expect (hope?) I'm not alone amongst new editors who began their Thief experience with T3 in having kept a low profile so far because my first map is for C7: and in being reticent to volunteer anything because I've shown nothing to the community yet and don't want to look like I'm just spouting hot air! I'm glad the project start will wait till C7 is over when I have something to show.
I have to say I will/would only get involved though if we have a definite leader who is prepared to take on authority over the whole project. A leaderless project might just work if you restrict yourselves to a small team of experienced, dependable editors but if you are going to allow new people like me without credentials to contribute (and I hope you will) you do need someone prepared to take a firm hand in setting deadlines and even reallocating work where it proves necessary: it isn't a pleasant task at all and choosing a leader can be tough as those who volunteer are not always the most suitable. I have been involved in too many CVS projects that have petered out due to a lack of direction for me to get involved again with any project without a deadline and a benevolent dictator at the helm.
If ascottk is volunteering to take it on I'll add my support to his nomination! The amount of work that I can see went into Krellek's and his new texture mods put his dedication and taste beyond question and I have to say I'm quite relieved that we have a <s>willing victim</s> viable candidate so early in the process!
EDIT: I do love some of the ideas on the whiteboard :-) The high-class house of uncertain virtue strikes me as particularly appealing :ebil:
