STiFU suggested a new thread for the community project so here it is ;)
We have access to the writeboard:

Any ideas should be used in there.

A lead is in my view essential. I saw the Doom 3 community try to build a mod with no clear leadership or direction - and it's been silent for months now, having released a couple of decent test builds that are mostly the work of about 2 or 3 people.
Someone needs to organise it properly if you want it to be a success - and probably not on TTLG, unless the admins make you a separate forum.

And someone with a pointy stick for Art Direction.
Ascottk's level looked a lot different to mine, and the KC6 missions varied quite a bit too, so there'd need to be some guidance on how to keep things consistant.

Who's willing to lead/guide? I'm up for it (I think). Who else wants to volunteer?
As for the forum we can start here until further notice.

The screenshots for the Dark Mod shows the inconsistancies too so art direction is a good idea.

Isn't this just getting awfully grown up, awfully quick :p

Do not fall victim to isolationism - be open, be creative - be a community. Do not fear argument - discussion - these things lead to development and betterness.

I'm going to throw a spanner in the works (as is my want). I don't think we need a leader; at least, not with a smallish team.
Personally, I think we need an agreed and robust project scope that imposes a set of self enforced constraints that push us to make and agree on decisions rather than dilly dally - but I don't think we need a project leader.
I really wouldn't want to be a project lead. I don't have the required combination of time/skills/experience/money/goodlooks and I suspect that I'm not alone in variations of that affliction. But I wouldn't want that to stop me or anyone else jumping in and taking the lead now and then. (That and I don't particularly like being told what to do.)
I also slightly dissagree with separating on skill set. On a community project I think one should be able to try their hand at different stuff and muck in as free time and whatnot allow. As a counter-weight to all this infomality, I don't think a single person should be responsible for any single aspect of a project.
As an aside - I'm happy to host some stuff/set up forums etc on my enormous internet
sock webspaceage.
In fairness to The Dark Mod - they've had a system of art direction from very nearly day one.
Just to be confusing. I've set up a (
http://thief.backpackit.com/login) BackPack
UserName: thief
You already know the Password. It's like a writeboard, but with extra project management bits. I've imported our writeboard (You can get at it from the writeboard tab at the top.) I'll try and keep an eye on both and keep them up to date. See how you get on. If the BackPack isn't too fiddly we should consider migrating.
-edit-
oh cool, they're linked and update each other (backpack references the writeboard). Use which you'd prefer.

From experience, you do need a 'leader' of some sort. It doesn't have to be an official 'smack the hammer down' type of leadership but someone who takes an overall approach at keeping things in order. Don't try to fool yourselves, you will need it. :) If I may, I would like to give my endorsement to ascottk as that team leader. He has dabbled in everything and has a very good understanding of T3Ed.

I think leader should be the project scope. I'm not fooling myself.
Not that I doubt ascotkk in any way - if you have energy and enthusiasm - get in there and stamp your mark. But to be honest, I wouldn't wish formal leadership on anyone who isn't getting paid. Sometimes it's nice to have the option to dissappear with T3ed for a while and just make stuff. Also, it's nice for the rest of us if we can get a breather from T3ed and do organising and call decisions. I wouldn't wish non-decision making on anyone who isn't getting paid.

My idea for a project leader is for guiding the community (not a tyrant). Encourage people to share ideas & contribute whenever possible. If everyone goes whichever way they please: something good can come out of it or they'll need the reigns pulled :sly: Also the project leader could oversee the project for consistancy.
