The Fighting TTLGers present: Arma 3 (a TTLG Coop Saturdays spin-off) - by Thirith

Henke, Jeshibu and me, joined briefly demagogue (who was having computer problems), managed to liberate another enemy base yesterday. While it was a gruelling battle, we did pretty well, with only two deaths necessitating respawns. We were pinned down by an enemy tank for longer than I care to remember, but we did finally disable it. However, as soon as we took the stadium-turned-into-a-base, the enemy sent wave after wave of reinforcements our way in order to take it back... and they failed. With some help from our AI friends, we were able to beat them back.
And to celebrate our newly-gained helicopters, henke jumped in one of them to take it back to our HQ - to find out that the tail rotor had been damaged in the battle, so henke *almost* died in a fiery crash. But only almost: we managed to pull him away from the flames and revive him. And there was a second chopper in the base that hadn't been harmed, so we didn't go entirely chopper-less.

One thing I thought of after the last session, by the way: while the RPG-42 launchers are more difficult to use, the fact that we've got an infinite amount of them is something we can make better use of. Next time, I'm thinking we can grab a dozen of them, already load an AT rocket into each, and put the loaded launchers into our truck. If we go with the usual 'pack a launcher and a dozen rockets' trick, we'll always be slower, and even a lowly pickup truck should fit about 20 RPG-42s.
And keeping this in mind: perhaps we can try our hand at a convoy mission. No idea how easy or difficult they are, and they may already come with tanks at this point, but it might be worth having a go.

Always bashing myself on the head for not joining the sessions. Anyway, I've had a nice couple games on Reforger with my French Arma friends. The latest update does make it feel a lot more like Arma, either hopping on a Conflict server (PvPvE) or running Combat Ops which is pure PvE. There have been appreciable improvements to AI firing behaviour and AI can drive now.
For the first time, I can say I had fun in Reforger, you guys might want to look into it at some point.

You can always join us for a session if you feel like it. If you like, I can add you to the Antistasi Steam group we've got going, and then you can decide on a case-by-case basis.
I've got Arma Reforger, but I've not played much of it (yet). I should really check out the Combat Ops mode.

I would love to get back into this, but only have the base Arma 3, plus whatever addons we used to use back in the day.
What would I need to get to be up to date for the Antistasi games?

Here's the relevant info, PigLick. It'd definitely be fun to have you join again! Should I add you to the Steam Antistasi chat, to keep you in the loop?

What's Antistasi?It's a persistent whole-map mission in which we play a local resistance on a map where the local military is fighting an invading army, and we take on both of them. Doing small sorties and missions, we slowly gather resources to take on bigger and bigger targets and converting the island to our cause, town by town. Or we get shot to bits trying to race past a checkpoint in a battered old pickup truck. We'll see.
What will you need to join?* An updated installation of
Arma 3 (possibly including the
APEX DLC, depending on which map we want to play on)
* An up-to-date TeamSpeak 3 client
* The mods in (
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3148668505) this collection, all fully updated
* Here's (
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2154094306) a list of
optional mods tweaking your
Arma 3 visuals and sound
On the days of the Antistasi sessions, I'll get the server for
Arma 3 and TS3 started beforehand and will send everyone who'd like to join the IP and password at the beginning of the session. Looking forward to seeing a bunch of you ready and willing to liberate Altis/Stratis/Malden/Tanoa!

Today's session with henke, Jeshibu and demagogue was fun, and it felt pretty different: for once, we didn't attack a target only to find that we were in over our heads. We'd picked a resources map point (which gives us more money for units and equipment) and attacked it with two squads as well as with a machine gun technical and an AT technical. We lost both of these (in the case of the latter because I tried to tow it over rocks, which only succeeded at blowing it up), but other than that the attack went well and we also fought back the reinforcements that landed in a couple of helicopters.
By that time, the enemy had announced an attack of another map point - the first resources point we'd ever taken, in fact, a few months ago - so we grabbed some AI squaddies and headed up there. Several helicopters landed near the point, but we made short shrift of them, and while they sent a plane and attack chopper to chip away at the base, we pretty much laughed in the face of the enemy and looted their stuff.
All in all, a very successful evening. Once we were done with all of this, henke left to get some food. There is a malicious rumour that Jesh, dema and me then tried to take a village from the enemy (which is usually a simple task) and that we were finally taken apart by several MRAPs coming our way and blasting at least Jesh and me to kingdom come, but that never happened. Nope.

The imperialist pigs even claimed to have had a mole take a picture of our brave Cpt. Thirith being blasted 50 feet in the air from said MRAP blast, but we know this image has to be doctored and is fake news! To what depths will they not stoop?

Change of plans: I'm moving the next Antistasi session forward by one week, which means that you've got until this coming Saturday to recover from last Saturday's successful and surprisingly unlethal outing.
