None of it made me wince because movie trailers usually rank pretty low on the list of things that have the ability to negatively affect my life.
I'm not going to have to watch it a billion times on tv though so maybe that helps

There hopefully won't be any holodecks in this movie (not that they're likely to care about continuity). Is there going to be any time travel? If not we're two steps closer to something maybe ok.

...On topic though, I agree entirely, DS9 is like a cold war type ST that feels a bit too caught up in the drudgery and reality of its place in time and space to actually have as much fun as TNG (and any fun had to come from
Oh look, Quark and Odo are arguing! Hah, the doctor's being a tool! Yay, a new holographic farce!). And while Fringe is bang on that TNG created the philosophical captain mold I must say it's a tad preferable, to me anyway, to have a captain that actually judges the ramifications of his actions rather than a captain who's essentially like a James Bond of space.
All that said, I'm not above stuff blowing up cool like.
I think Scots is on target here...
I liked Wesley just fine too.
Voyager was cool.
However Babylon 5 rules over all Star Trek.

Threshold:
* Tom Paris develops Warp 10 shuttlecraft, allowing Voyager to get home instantly. Marvellous.
* Slight downside is that he and Janeway turn into lizards. This is not so great, although Janeway is less annoying when she can't talk. The Lizardishness isn't bad for Tom, but he ends up doing Lizard Janeway. Urgh.
* The Doctor successfully turns Lizard Paris and Lizard Janeway back into Tom Paris and Kathryn Janeway
* Voyager abandon the Warp 10 drive, despite the fact that: * It works and* The Doctor was ABLE TO REVERSE THE SIDE EFFECT of Lizardishness.
* So Voyager should have gone home, turned into Lizards and had The Doctor Delizardify them.
That's a retarded plot hole that a 12 year old should be able to avoid.

Raven - one doesn't need to go reading wiki pages at all. The probe came to do a routine communication with the whales. It wasn't "hearing" them across space - it was trying to "talk" to the whales from orbit. What is your malfunction?
*sighs*
I'm apparently not communicating effectively, not for the first time either. It has been at least 5 years since I've last watched Star Trek 4, but here is my interpretation of the events:
* Aliens establish communication with the Humpback whales.
* Aliens lose* contact with the whales and wonder why.
* Aliens build a gigantic probe to travel to Earth and attempt to reestablish contact with the whales.
* After a few centuries, the probe finally reaches Earth in the mid-to-late 2200's.
Yes, the probe was in orbit attempting the reestablish contact. The aliens who built the probe are no doubt a long ways away from Earth, possibly outside our galaxy. My initial complaint was with the alien's communication with whales over such a vast area. Even then, the probe within orbit is capable of hearing the whale calls after they're taken to the future. Unless the probe is within the upper atmosphere, there's an area of vacuum between it and the whales. My problems in both cases were with this type of sensory equipment, which Zylon provided a perfectly logical explanation for.
There, now I hope we can finally put this to rest.
EDIT: I'm sorry, D'Juhn Keep. :(

I was a kid when Voyager was initially airing, and so didn't put a lot of thought into stuff like that. When I catch repeats of Voyager today, it's just awful. I mean, an alien wrestling episode with special guest star The Rock!? Voyager is just far too bad to even attempt to explain some of the shit they pull on a regular basis.
EDIT: Any particular part of this thread embarrass you the most, fett?
