I was a bit of a Trek nerd in high school, somehow managed to be unimpressed with DS9 (felt like Cheers set in a space station at times and Sisko had worse overacting diction than Kirk)
I never considered myself a "star trek nerd" but I have pretty much seen every episode of TNG at least 5 times and all of DS9 at least once so make of that what you will (my mom loved some star trek and its been on some network or another for the last 10 years).
I thought TNG was a better series, but DS9 had its moments. It had a few really good episodes and the majority of it was good, but it had a few stinkers here and there.
Not sure why I'm adding that but oh well. I have little or no faith in a new series.

The reason I said that about DS9 is because it's universally loved and praised as the best ST series by many fans.

You were wrong.
Wesley Crusher? Deanna "I'm sensing hostility" Troi? Whoopi Goldberg? Yeah, no.

This is more about movie trailers in general, but while I <3 trailer music, trailer dialogue can fall off a cliff and die tangled in its own entrails.

THE WAIT IS OVER

That trailer seemed more interested in showing special effects and explosions than paying too much attention to what the film will actually be about, anyway. Assuming, of course, that it doesn't consist entirely of special effects and explosions.

Haha, point taken. I always had a good laugh at Deanna. Regardless of which you like better (if I had to simply watch ST I would probably rather watch DS9), you have to admit TNG had about the best last episode of all time. Its nice when a show can go out on top (like futurama, except it came back).

Troi sucked, but Whoopi Goldberg was awesome in TNG. I only wish they'd included her in more episodes.
And Wesley was a good character. Never understood all the hate towards him.
Fringe on 19/11/2008 at 03:32
How much of the first season have you seen?
Aja on 19/11/2008 at 03:52
I've seen the whole series a couple times and I still love Wesley. I also love how Wil Wheaton acknowledges that everyone hated Wesley and he's cool with it.

not sure where you're getting this because it isn't from the abortion of a trailer I just endured
the movie you want is probably boring and moody and filled with lots of dark clothes and soulful looks from the main characters why don't you just go watch Twilight god

Good call on the thread title, Morte. Unlike Starreh, I don't suckle at the Abrams teat and see his teen-pandering as a massive failure in much of his work but hey, I'm not laughing while swimming in a pool filled with gold coins so I guess I'm the massive failure.
Someone's cranky tonight! You accidentally watched a Lost rerun or something didn't you. Actually as far as I know Cloverfield is the only other thing he's done that I really like.
