Well kirk was being trained up as an officer else he wouldn't have been sitting in the captains chair during the kobi bollox test, where you have to rescue some ship while being blown to bits by some klingons. So he could be promoted up to whatever rank he got.
In the original pilot for star trek the enterprise could land on planets, but as this turned out to be a very costly effect to do every week, someone came up with the transporter, it would exist as just one set, that could be used over and over again.
the biggest bug in the film is at the end
when they eject the engine cores but can still warp away from the explosion. as in ejecting the engine cores they would have dropped out of warp, and the black hole would have then sucked them up like a massive hoover in a split second.

Was most of the film shot in a water purifacation plant, cos that what it looked like. I suppose imagination went down the tubes when it became cloverfield on ice. plus that escape pod in ice section, wouldn't have done that to the ice/snow it buried its self in. And the supernova thing was complete bollox. I mean there's a supernova explosion coming straight for the planet, lets all stay there and get destroyed.
Considering this flick's plot, they probably did more than just shooting scenes there

Fast Five is one of the greatest heist films ever made. It's like a modern version of that Michael Cain film The Italian Job except not hugely underwhelming and rubbish.

Haha it's back to z-movies for Star Trek. It's funny how JJ Abrams basically used Star Trek to get to Star Wars, and then just dumped it when he was done with it. Next movie will be direct to video.

Saw Star Trek Beyond on Friday, opening night, on a big-ass screen in Helsinki. Didn't know till the end credits that it was co-written by Simon Pegg, but that perhaps explains some of the more fun elements, such as the use of Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" as an actual plot device. Yeah, it was a good time. Great visuals, good space drama, and a villain who's proper evil. As an "Action Spectacle" it's a tad disapponting tho. I mean it's ok, but from Justin Lin I was expecting more. There's nothing as wildly entertaining as the best bits of Fast & Furious 5 or 6 here. But yes, overall, a good time.

If you go into a Star Trek movie expecting action spectacle, you are why Star Trek sucks now.

I'm just saying it woulda been cool if Kirk and the badguy settled their differences with an illegal streetrace is all.
