So. The trailer for JJ Abrams' Star Trek reboot is up:

And there's explosions and Sylar looks like a decent Spock, Eomer is loltastically Bones-y in his one frame, I really like Simon Pegg and John Cho and...
WHY THE FUCK IS A HORRIBLE CHILD-KIRK DRIVING A VINTAGE CAR OVER A CLIFF
I'm not even a Star Trek fan but what the christ
MY NAME IS JAMES TIBERIUS KIRK

Who cares? It looks like it's going to be exactly the movie it should be, meaning it will be awesome and only the sad over-expectant fanboys and people who don't like fun will complain.
The worst star trek movies are the ones that try to be all SERIUOS SPACE MOVIE and avoid any hint of cheesiness out of the fear that people might enjoy themselves

I haven't seen all the originals yet! Only 1 and 4. And all the Next Gen ones but Insurrection, all of which were good. Except the last one, which was the worst film ever. The very first Star Trek was quality. I doubt this will be as good but it will probably be enjoyable.

First Contact is still my favorite. Which probably either gives me a lot of star trek credibility or takes it all away, I'm not sure.

Star Trek 5 was far worse than Nemesis.

Oh hell, you haven't seen Wrath of Khan?

Oh yeah, I saw 5 too. It was poor but Nemesis was something else.
No, I never saw Wrath Matthew. I've always wanted too. Ideally straight after watching the Khan episode. One day...

I care, because every minuteof celluloid wasted on a terrible squeaky child-Kirk, is a minute grown Kirk is not exploring new frontiers while being sneaky and underhanded, bedding alien women and overloading dilithium crystals.
That, and it's a phenomenally retarded looking bit of footage. Maybe it'll work in context but what the fuck.

Khan is a legitimately great movie, not just a good for a Star Trek movie. Definitely get around to it next if you're planning to watch any more of them.

First Contact is the best film of them. Haven't seen Nemesis, sounds like I wouldn't want to anyway.

Yes, Nemesis was truly awful, do yourself a favour and don't watch it. I wish I hadn't.
