Of course we do. I was referring to the diversity thing. Diversity groups never last long because in spite of being united for some common cause (i.e. diversity) everyone has different definitions on what their goal actually is. It's one thing when you have two large, existing groups, usually nationalized, catering to single demographics, uniting for a common ideal, but a group like EDL which is supposedly made up of a bunch of different backgrounds united behind something would fall apart in short order due to infighting. That may happen with EDL, I don't know, I don't claim to know. But over here diversity's no fun when you can hate everyone who isn't exactly like you.

Unless they choose to wear it, right? There are lots of religious communities that choose to dress a certain way and we don't label that choice as oppression, do we?

My problem with the full veil is that it removes a critical part of human communication. I mean, we've spent hundreds of thousands of years developing brains that are massively keyed to facial recognition, and are capable of divining a host of diverse signals from the tiniest, tiniest facial cues, and then they go and stick a fucking mask in front of it. Are you joking? Are you seriously but not that serious? Are you upset but trying not to show it? Is something making you uncomfortable? Are you being honest? Oh wait, I have no fucking idea coz all I can see is eyes.

Head scarves? Sure, there's not a lot to be derived from hair. Silly hats? Ditto. But hiding everything but the eyes? It's pretty much going against everything evolution has selected for.

But hey.

You can get plenty of indications of mood and intent based on eyes and vocal cues alone. After all, a smile can mean a million different things, but the eyes, to abuse a phrase, never lie.

Banning a piece of cloth is stupid I agree, but if they insist on wearing it no welfare, nobody is going to hire a bonebag so bonebags shouldn't get any welfare. Fine, you are on your own.
