And did? you read (
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/8250017.stm) this article as well Fingernail?
And the the front page of that site, latest news is headed up by the fact some 13 year old with a Pakistani name raped a 20 yr old white girl.
I mean what? What relevance has that got?
If some kid's a nutter he's a nutter, the colour of his skin's got bugger all to do with it.
I'm sorry? I have no say? Someone from Montreal is saying I have no say about the UK?
And let me assure you that Glasgow and Edinburgh (were I spend part of my time) have very large muslim communities and a fair few mosques.
Banning items of clothing?
Shut the fuck up fool.
I lived in London for most of my life if you have to ask. But then why would I waste my time posting on this issue if I didn't passionately care about it? Just because I happen to go to school in Montreal right now should exclude me from caring?! Do I really need to include all of my biographical info before posting :erg:.
edit: I'm sorry but something like a full-body black burqa doesn't seem like a simple item of clothing to me, more like a symbol of Muslim women's obvious state of oppression and doesn't belong on the streets of European cities. It is rather sad that the so-called "liberals" don't see it that way. The line has to be drawn somewhere, even if it is "an item of clothing" as you say.

That is a very honorable position to hold on to, but there is also such a place called the awful truth. The thing with things like awful truths is that you never like them. Glad we have our PVV I can do without these EDL clowns, but something has to be done the left has gone nuts.

YES! Those EDL skinheads only give bad rep to other legitimate political parties and individuals, and let the "honourable" bleeding heart liberals feel all warm-inside as they continue to stick their collective heads even deeper into the quicksand of political correctness.

Edit: And we have planning laws which are more than adequate to decide what gets built where.
Yeah, and presumably noise-related laws too, which the call to prayer will have to conform to. Beyond that if church bells are allowed, so must be any other religion's noise.

Banning a piece of clothing is the most stupid idea I've ever heard.
SubJeff on 27/1/2010 at 21:07
Banning veils is just stupid. If I can choose to wear a balaclava if I want to why shouldn't someone be allowed to wear a veil if they want to. Same with minarets and so on. If planning permission is given what is the issue?
Being woken at 6am by chanting isn't going to happen because people will have a legit complaint to make about that. And veils are already banned in certain areas due to security - but its not veils specifically, its anything that doesn't show your face.

Yeah, but you don't hear church bells at 6am and they don't go on for anywhere near as long as calls to prayer.

I'm not going to make the claim I know anything about what's going on over there (I'm not Fragony) but I'd like to point out that a group like this would never get off the ground here in the US for a variety of reasons.

Not sure I agree entirely. I think using your liberal constitution as a justification for banning a type of clothing just about trumps the ban itself, stupidity wise.

Dude, you have crazier groups than this BY FAR.
