Hey thanks Springheel! Doesn't hurt to ask, right? It's not like we want the game RIGHT NOW, :erm: Well, yeah we do, but, we'll take screenies. :)
Those are decent, my eye picks up the shimmer on the noble womans dress, the textures in the various rooms, good color, nice eye candy. TY!

Gob smacked. Looks incredible!
Is it possible to swing back and forth and build up momentum to leap over gaps and stuff?
And say you had a map with a well and no way of getting down, could you put a plank over the top and then shoot a rope arrow into it and climb down?

There's no special key, but if you're crouching when you back off, you automatically latch on (and it's fairly smooth even when you're not crouching).
Ah, good.

Yeah, you could probably find some old, outdated shots that way, but all the newest ones are up on the page.
Yeah, I saved all of them to drool at occasionally. :)
Excellent. Been a while since I've seen that noblewoman model.
Can NPCs sit on that ... chair? If so, are there facial expressions and voice acted lines made for such an occasion?

As long as the rope swings, the player is taken along with it. Currently there are no plans to make keys for that though. Not because we don't like it, but becasue we have to cut features somewhere. I definitely would like to see this though in a later release, when we are finished with the basics.

Yes, this should definitely be possible. It should also be possible to wedge the plank somewhere so that you can climb down as well. As long as the plank can support you, that is. :)

Yeah, it would be great for the more adventurous levels, like the ones in the first thief.

Sounds great. This was the sort of stuff I was hoping for from Thief 3 :)
Another q. In that video where the box falls down, is it possible to pick up the end of the rope and kind of pull the box round by it?

Yes, there is a sitting animation (though we haven't made the code to call it yet). D3 animations use "channels", so you can have a character play the same animations for sitting that you do for standing, but you only use the torso and head channel (not the legs).
Not sure what kind of facial expressions or voices would be specific to sitting....
Oh wait, are you talking about that torture chair? If so, yes, you could technically put an AI (or a ragdoll) in the chair, but no, we don't have any specific animations for it (there are generic 'pain' animations and vocals for combat, so they might work).

Yeah, that is what I meant. I guess it'd be more effective to just show the aftermath of any torture, because using generic pain sounds and animations while sitting would be silly (since I assume those are based on sudden pains like a sword in the torso instead of a long excruciating pain like any torture device).
The mobile rope-arrowable surfaces will be very useful for exploring beyond the usual level boundaries, by the sound of it. :)

Not sure right now if this works, but I think it should. AFAIK the rope is physical, so it drapes over the geoemtry properly (as seen in one of the vids). Not sure though if impulses get carried over this way, if the rope is wrapped around an object.

Those look phenomenal! Makes me want to drop Dromed and make the change right away. Thanks for sharing!

It's great to start seeing some videos, the more of those the happier I'll be. It's nice to see everything in motion.
On the topic of the physics - would it be possible to use it against your enemies? Using a rope arrow to pull a crate down on top of a guard to knock him out, for example? I imagine it would be a bit fiddly, but is it possible?
