Nay nay nay nay nay!
Just kidding. I can't wait to get into Dark Mod. Still need to wrap my head around Doom 3 editing, though.

It's pretty easy IMO. Of course to create something good, you need to learn a bit, but the editor is pretty good to use even to me (and I'm certainly not a mapper). And also with all the changes that Orbweaver, and his guys, did to create a darkmod specific editor, it will become even easier and in some cases it is. You can think of it like Dromed but under our control. :)

Hopefully this random spawning will take into account what type of surface the AI is currently standing on. It would be very odd for an AI standing in a wood-floored room to suddenly find a rock.
Better would be for them to go grab existant deco objects, of course.
As mentioned in another post, knives would be appropriate to use. Would not be all that unlikely for guards to be required to carry throwing knives. Can fit a lot on a body, - even 2 inch knives are hurtful at the least. That way you will not have to worry about spawning items, all guards carry at least 20 knives :cheeky: on a chest&back belt for ex.. Should not be able to take more than a few hit from knives to do some real extensive damage. :wot: :p Forget about rocks, bottles, sticks.....if I were a sword guard, I'd also carry quite a few throwing knives. My opinion
Unwanted.

I dunno about 20 but most medieval warriors did carry more then just their sword. There was always the possibility of not having room to wield their sword for one thing. Tends to require a good bit of space to swing that heavy 3 foot or longer sword around(Some were smaller of course).
Also they would have carried 1 knife at a minimum simply to eat with :P Silverware was mostly non existent at that point unless you were a noble woman or something.
Probably 3 - 5 would be fair. If you can get hit by 3-5 knives(By someone who knows what they are doing) and it doesn't hurt you pretty badly I don't want to meet you :P

Just out of curiosity - as I have yet to actually acquire a copy of Doom3 and am not willing to pay 30 bucks for a game I have no interest in past the Dark Mod. . .
Is there any reason that the dark mod would (not?) work with this Doom engine?

If not Ill keep looking for a nice, cheap version. I have time, right? :) And by cheap. . .yes, I do mean like 10 bucks or less. lol

I'm surprised Doom3 is still 30 bucks, but it'll probably be pretty low by the time of actual release. Of course it might be worth it to shell out the 30 bucks for Doom3, if you're an experienced FM author and want to start making Dark Mod FMs now as a beta mapper.

That engine is Doom, not Doom 3. So TDM will most certainly not work with that engine, unless they ported it over to D3. In whcih case it might work, but you still would need D3 for it.
On Amazon Doom 3 is already offered at 16 Euros, so i don't think that's expensive. And I'm sure you can find even better offers as well.
