It was still completely uncalled for since...you know...he wasn't talking to you or about you.
Aditya on 26/10/2004 at 09:55
Your bothering about this sooo much is what is most uncalled for as of now. I know you work on same team and need to back each other, but really, I see no point in telling you anything what's going on between me and NH.
Domarius on 26/10/2004 at 09:57
Keep posting Aditya, this is too funny :) I can't wait to see you banned.
(Incase you haven't noticed what the problem is; you're cluttering up the thread with petty personal arguments instead of maintaining a Thief related discussion.)

ello ello ello, whats goin' on 'ere then.
I don't see how this discourse is related in any way to The Dark Mod. Can you guys take it somewhere else please. [/End of discussion.]

I am just responding appropriately to those who are poking in personal things between me and NH. Plz see their posts and the amount of clutter produced. By all means they are free to proceed with Dark Mod discussion, but they are stuck calling my name unnecessarily.

Yes, great, you're very noble and fierce. La la la la la. Defending your honour and your name, I'm sure we're all very impressed with your tenacity.
a) If this is between you and New Horizon, then you and New Horizon are perfectly welcome to use our wonderful Private Messaging feature. If that's not to your liking, may I recommend email?
b) If it's not possible or convenient to cut it out, by all means continue. You might get a few posts in before I start swinging banhammers and locking threads and generally acting very grumpy as I tend to do when crap like this goes on outside of CommChat. Several people have already asked, suggested, and pretty much flat-out told you to leave it alone.
I realise this is likely to provoke some kind of indignant response or more defending of your spectacular honour. Hopefully you realise what a bad idea that would be.
This public service announcement also applies to anyone who was thinking of continuing the Aditya vs The World discussion after he has wisely chosen that it's not worth the effort to keep arguing.

I never wanted to continue, but other unrelated people keep saying to stop having thier last word calling my name, which is not fair to me. I leave this argument and wish others do the same as well.

I could ruff things up abit and bring the idea of loyalty into the question...
We pestered Eidos to release the T3 tools - perhaps it is only polite to use them first and foremost?
I have always thought that the best Fan missions were those that focused on story and thiefy game play - I mean how many Thief TCs do you see out there? Dromed WAS thief and now the thief 3 editing tools should be thief (so long as they don't suck REALLY badly) - just cause something is easy doesn't mean it is worth doing! Thievery UT while amazing in its own right never struck me as "Thief" because i was really playing an unreal TC - I fear the same would be true for the Doom 3 TC. With Dromed Based fan missions you could lose yourself in the thief world all over again - a hammerite that was chasing was the actual model of a hammerite, with the Dark Mod it will (no offence) only be an artistic interpretation of a hammerite. (This all totally balances on the reimplementation of rope arrows, water and me getting comfortable will the thief 3 movement style – or hacking the crap out of it)
Sometimes restraining the creativity produces the best results (consider Equilibrium AI keepers compared to the Keeper assassins from T3)
Yikes :)
I have to say, I have never really considered my loyalty to Eidos before ;) But yep, The staff at Ion Storm (and even some of the big bad suits at eidos, lol) are friends of the community no doubt. Sounds like they have been working behind the scenes to get us the editor. In all honesty I doubt this a shrewd business decission. The Fan Mission community probably isn't big enough to make Eidos pots of lovely cash. This is a good will gesture on their part.
The way I see things at the moment (lol, darkmod irc and forums have been flaring up all night, I've hardly had any sleep) is that I'm going to stick with the Dark Mod for the moment at least. There are very real advantages to using the Doom engine: cross platform, open architecture/tools and longevity of the doom technology among them. If at any point it becomes clear that we are producing something that is of dubious quality then we should stop. There is no point fighting an up hill battle if the fight is pointless. Unfortunately it looks as if Dark Mod is going to rock.
We will, of course, be releasing textures and models and so on into the community on an as and when basis. Getting them into T3 should be fairly streight forward (we have already been using t3 as a test platform for some of our textures - its easy enough to do) so hopefully we can see how darkmod develops over time (we are a long way from any kind of release) and at the same time remain loyal and contribute to the existing thief universe...

Just by looking at it, you can tell that this was rendered by T3. :) It has a very distinct style.
