That's a cheat - and not a patch or mod.
For sure nothing that a serious player would consider using. :tsktsk:
Sounds like it gives you unlimited ammo and shit. :nono:

Edit: On the bright side, it seems they are going to be (
http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTIxMDc) open-sourcing the BFG version also. So that might make it more likely TDM becomes compatible with it. And it does have some engine improvements apparently. Although with the amount of work that might take, going full-on standalone might be just as close a goal to shoot for, and much better of course.
Well the fact they are trying to make TDM standalone will negate the need for that. But if it takes a long time yet, then maybe...

They completely re-evaluated the shadow system in the BFG edition (and apparently removed flashlight shadows because the idtech5 elements they used didn't support them or something), so even if they do give it mod support, I'm guessing you won't want to use it to play a mod which is heavily dependent on shadows.

I get an error saying :
"Sorry, but you're not permitted to view these materials at this time.
click here to return to the main page"
For anything other then the bfg edition.

So I updated to 1.08 and got TDM to work, but the training mission will not work for whatever reason. It gets to the "preparing mission please wait" on the loading screen and then "freezes." I say that because it appears like nothing is happening so then I try to go back to desktop and discover the standard "doom3.exe has stopped responding" error window. I tried deleting the training_mission folder in fms and re-download it from tdm_update, but no luck. Still crashes. I also tried st. lucia to see if it works and that one is just fine. I did try to research the problem on the dark mod forums but couldn't really find any solution. I did find (
http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/14291-training-mission-no-longer-loads/) this thread though.
I haven't tried deleting everything and redownloading per lost_soul's suggestion. EAX isn't enabled either. I'm at a loss as to why it doesn't work. I had noticed an old folder in the base doom3 folder called training_Mission, which I deleted but that didn't make any difference of course. There are no other training_mission.pk4 files that I know of excluding the one in the fms directory.

Yeah thank goodness for that. I think they got some backlash by people that didn't want to lose mod support. See, a little consumer pressure does still work.
