So, any idea when 1.07 is coming out? Are we talking days, or weeks, or months?

Definitely not months. A few weeks at most, the package is still in testing.

Any new AI planned for 1.07? I couldn't find any info on the TDM site or in the forums.

The most detailed changelog can be found on the bugtracker and usually on the wiki too: (

No entirely new AI so far, but a couple of other things.

Wow, that sounds really awesome. Now I'll have to be careful not to leave rope arrows hanging around. :) I especially like the idea that they will look up and down the rope.

Some recent twitter updates from John Carmack on the D3 source code release.
(
http://twitter.com/#!/ID_AA_Carmack/status/136614459887202305) Lawyers are still skittish about the patent issue around "Carmack's reverse", so I am going to write some new code for the doom3 release.
...and then...
(
http://twitter.com/#!/ID_AA_Carmack/) Going back in and doing a little work on Doom 3 for the GPL release, I immediately missed persistant-across-runs console history.
Now how is that for dedication to the modding community? :)

Not really sure what he's talking about (carmack's reverse?) but that's cool.

Carmack's reverse was a shadowing technique.
(

Quote:
The stencil buffer implementation of shadow volumes is generally considered among the most practical general purpose real-time shadowing techniques for use on modern 3D graphics hardware. It has been popularised by the video game Doom 3, and a particular variation of the technique used in this game has become known as Carmack's Reverse (see depth fail below).
Creative Labs, in a purely douchey move, patented the technique 'after' hearing about it. They then 'allowed' id software to use this technique if they bundled EAX into doom 3.
The technique had been clearly explained well before Creative had even filed the patent, but the courts sided with them for whatever reason. Details here.
Anyway, it appears that Carmack has had enough of Creative Labs dicking around and messing up the source code release. So, he rewrote the code....now the D3 source code can be released.
"this demonstrates the idiocy of the patent -- the workaround added four lines of code and changed two."
Personally, I'll never buy another Creative Product again if I can help it.
