It was just a suggestion. And I don't know how to create a game.
Well, but a little thinking can help a lot. ;)
You know that we are working on TDM since 2004. Or at least you CAN know it, if you bother to look up our site, which you should do if you are going to make remarks as to what we could improve.
Now comes the thinking part. If somebody works to four or five years on some stuff, do you really think it would an easy or a good move to switch to a completely new engine?
If you do a little ressearch on game development, you can easily see that most game companies also work abuot 2-4 years on a title. This you can easily even learn if you are "just" a gamer with no intention of developing yourself, because a lot of gamers follow the progress of a game from the first time it was mentioned in the media, till the moment it is released. Well, and there is a reason why it takes so long to complete a game. Switching the engine means to almost start over again from point zero.

sparhawk, chill out dude. The guy was just bringing up Ogier as a point in the body awareness discussion and made an offhand comment that "Maybe the people from The Dark Mod could try it out". No need to start insulting him over it.

Well, he did suggest we switch over to a completely new engine after 5 years. lol He wasn't just suggesting we look at the engine, he said we should use it instead of the engine we're already using.
Also, I don't really see Spar's comment as insulting...you're over reacting. All he did was point out that doing a little research and thinking things through can go a long way to understanding how something works. I've worked with Spar long enough to know that he wasn't being insulting, he's just very direct. It's a language thing.

So which one is it?

Anyone who supports body awareness needs insulting.

I took the liberty of bolding the words that might make it (even) more clear.

Uh... my italicizing skills need sharpening. I should've italicized the part where he says "he said we should use it" but nevermind. I still don't see how anyone can think
"Maybe the people from The Dark Mod could try it out" amounts to more than a suggestion.

Hi,
Are you still arguing about that body awareness?
A few things I have to say:
First: I thougth the Dark MOD was just a beginning project. How in Heavens name would I know it was already a 5 year project?
Second: I've checked out the Dark Messiah body awareness; it's fake. (you can see your body, but that is'nt a body that really is there, only graphical).
Third: I was just suggesting the ogier engine, just a SUGGESTION, nothing more. And I didn't know DM was 5 years already.
Fourth: When is the DM coming anyway?
Fifth: I'm bussy with my exams, so it would be nice if you could wish me luck. You could also wish me luck on my own project: I'm making a patcher for Thief 3. Check it out at: (

Bye,

Well, as Sparhawk
suggested you could have looked up our website...
or maybe even checked the 'date' on page one of this 56 page thread. ;)

Aside from that...come on...it's the internet Tony. You can know pretty much whatever you want by typing something into a search engine(google) or even the search feature for this forum. Look before you leap...or in the case of the internet, look before you link. I don't think anyone can honestly claim ignorance with the world at their fingertips like it is today. I grew up without all this great technology, it didn't come until later in my life...so it baffles me when young people don't know how to use it.
I think anyone who has spent years working on a Mod of this size would feel somewhat frustrated when someone comes along making suggestions without taking a minute to familiarize themselves with the subject.
Anyway. The subject has been strained to exhaustion. Lets just forget about it.
