I meant for use in the Dark Engine, instead of using DromEd.

You could get away with converting simple geometry, but I can't see that working reliably. Dark Engine is subtractive geometry, Dark Mod is additive. It would have to be converted somehow, and then manually fix any issues not covered by the conversion. That would still leave you with texturing, ai placement...etc...etc.
If you plan to build a mission, build it in the engine it's intended for.

I don't have much experience with either editors, but I did wonder whether that would be an issue
Guess I need to get used to wrangling DromEd then. :)
(I don't think it likes me. Can you put in a good word for me please?)

If there will be a Thief 4 and it would not rise to my expectations, there is always The Dark Mod. From movies and screenshots, I believe that The Dark Mod will be our taffing future :D.
Nice work. I congratulate all of the "staff" that works on the project and I hope we will see it alive soon.

Considering how the Doom 3 source will be released as open source, TDM could easily have a longer lifetime than Thief 4-- and there could always be the possibility of a TDM 2.0 as the community advances the technology. I can't see Thief 4 ever being that cool.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves though. :)

It's already alive, and we're the taffers gathered around the pram doing "coochy coochy" noises. Just waiting for first steps now.
I have been wondering how the Dark Mod would probably influence the making of a Thief 4. While unfaithful sequels seem to be THE LAW™ with everything, I'd imagine that self sufficient hardcore fans would take the pressure off making a new installment for the original audience. If we're the ones going with tradition then I guess potential Thief developers would have more of a chance at being innovative.

sNeaksie, you legend. :thumb:
The menu for buying inventory looks fantastic. It's the simple stuff like that which makes this project shine.
I'll probably have my own PC by February, so only a few months to go before I can have a sample.
What will the situation be with beta testing when it comes to it? I love messing around with Blender, but my experience and talent are pretty basic when it comes to creating missions.

I'm already speechless! Amazing. Thank you!

Move things around in his room and look for a hidden lever.
Thanks for making those vids, btw. :)

The "beta-testing" phase will be when we release the mod to the public (which will hopefully be in the middle of 2009). At that point anyone can start mapping with TDM, and there will be two or three missions released at the same time for people to play. It won't be fully bug-free at that point, and it won't have all the features we would like to eventually add--we've decided it's better to release it asap rather than wait for it to be perfect (which would take another couple years). The *core* features will be done, we'll hopefully catch any game-breaking bugs before release, but we can't promise more than that. After the release, we'll continue to improve it and add new features, while hopefully mappers can begin making missions in the meantime.
