Are you sure you can't run doom 3? It's a game that can scale down really well.
What are your technical specs?
Hi Neb
As NH said, whats your specs..

I'm waiting to do some more testing. :sly: :cheeky:

I don't know of a walkthrough yet, but someone posted a video of extreme mantling in St. Lucia and I added it to Youtube. It's not great for getting a sense of the map, but it's a brief glimpse if nothing else. (

Is it just my monitor, or is that video really dark? At one point I could hear sounds of Garrett picking up items, but all I could see was blackness.
And here's another vote for some St. Lucia vids, my PC doesn't run it in any kind of playable form, but I'd love to see the level in it's entirety (in video form at least).

My computer died a few months back and I've been borrowing laptops off anyone I can until I can afford to fix my PC. This current laptop is really good but I have to give it back in a few weeks, so I might as well wait to buy Doom 3.

Any footage of The Dark Mod is appreciated really. Thank you :cheeky:
Also, chaotically placed half-timbered houses always put me into a trance. Add moonlight and I'm lost.

I'll see if I can put together a little something.

I've had a quick look at St Lucia. I'll be playing it all the way through over the next week. Here's my initial impressions.
First, a huge congrats to all who have contributed to get this far - I hope people realise the mammoth amount of work that's gone into getting to this point. :thumb:
As an overall Thief experience it's looking very, very good indeed.
My thoughts:
1. I know this is a Doom3 engine issue, but I couldn't select the native resolution of my TFT monitor. I'm not sure if this code resides in the currently unreleased doom3 source.
2. The level took a relatively long time to load. I think GTA4 is quicker to load. :cheeky:
3. I think we could benefit from some shader effects. Some post-process tone mapping, HDR and bloom would help. SSAO and soft-stencil shadows would improve things. Post-process motion blur would be useful if used sparingly (such as when falling). Depth-of-field may look cool for when you have the bow drawn back. Again, I'm not sure how many of these features would require changes to the private id doom3 source.
I'd be interested in looking at adding shader effects if you're still looking for volunteers...

Bloom was implemented as a side project by one of our members. We don't support it officially, but it's available. :)
I don't think you'll find much support for special shader effects amongst the team. Our approach is to avoid sfx and focus on a simple, minimal approach to the visuals. All of those things can be added later quite easily as external modifications, but I'm highly doubtful that we'll see them added to the main mod repository.
We could probably use some help sprucing up the renderer in Dark Radiant, our level editor, if something like that interests you? It's based on the open source GTK Radiant....so everything is accessible.
