Someone sent me this a couple of days ago:
(
http://www.charismamag.com/index.php/prophetic-insight/23723-the-danger-of-celebrating-halloween?showall=1)
Now, first let me apologize: I know it's a couple of months too late, but you can save this for next year's Halloween.
Essentially, here we have a noted evangelical preacher and prolific author, educating the public about the shocking truths of modern Halloween: how the candy has time released curses, how Halloween celebrants routinely (get ready for it:eek:) have sex with demons and sacrifice babies and animals, drink blood, and other shocking facts:p that we didn't know about Halloween, that according to her happen every year.
Here's a quote:
"I do not buy candy during the Halloween season. Curses are sent through the tricks and treats of the innocent whether they get it by going door to door or by purchasing it from the local grocery store. The demons cannot tell the difference."

Is demon sex and baby sacrifices really so bad? I think that most of the time these preachers are just jealous of the fun we're having.

I find it amusing that they felt the need to put two disclaimers in, both at the beginning and end of the page. "We're really not sure about this article, but we'll publish it anyway."

* Sex with demons
* Orgies between animals and humans
* Animal and human sacrifices
* Sacrificing babies to shed innocent blood
* Rape and molestation of adults, children and babies
* Revel nights
* Conjuring of demons and casting of spells
* Release of "time-released" curses against the innocent and the ignorant.
OK, let's look at this. First off, if you rape the baby first, is it still innocent blood when you sacrifice it later?
And man, first an orgy with animals, then rape of adults, children and babies (wonder if it's the animals, demons or other people doing that), then sex with demons.
That ain't no time-released curse, it's satan's own viagra.

Goddammit, it would seem I've been going to all the wrong Halloween parties. I want in on some of that demon sex and baby eating.

Interesting to note that the vast majority of comments, even from Christians, are roundly and articulately dismissive.
The magazine did post an (
http://www.charismamag.com/index.php/blogs/712-in-the-news/23800-why-christians-should-celebrate-halloween-) alternate view from another columnist and while it is a softer sell it makes the same factual errors and basically says not to fear Hallowe'en because it is a de-fanged Satanic feast and that to join in is akin to dancing on Satan's grave.

The bottom line is this: Halloween has no power that you refuse to give it. It is evil to the extent that you buy into the beliefs behind it. If you don’t buy those beliefs, then there’s no harm in throwing on a costume and having fun. In fact, that may be the very thing God is asking you to do.
Thanks but no thanks for your support, Ken.

Sarcastic though it may be, your reasoning makes no sense.

That's because some Christians have enough sense in their heads to realize that this idea is dumb.
It's like a post I made a little while back about the meaning of Christmas. For some Satanists, Halloween may very well be a time of baby sacrifices and devil worship and whatnot. I don't know, and nor do I care. For others, it's a time of dressing up in costumes and going door-to-door asking for candy or going to parties and bobbing for apples. Halloween has different meanings for different people.
Honestly, I think Ken's bottom line (haven't read the whole article, mind you) as posted by Nicker is pretty much right, except for the fact that for Christians (like myself), the
holiday isn't evil, just the
Satanic practices. It makes no difference what day of the year they fall on. Without those practices, Halloween is a night of fun.

Satanic practices are nonsense fantasy that only exist in the context of the even more fantastical nonsense that is christianity.
