I would say hesitantly that the long-term members that are still here are the ones that have changed the least?
I'd say that's true for many, but not for all. I was a stupid little arsehole (still am! lol) when I first wandered into CommChat spouting off narrow-minded inanities, however the core (and by that I mean regularly/constructively contributing) members have stayed fairly stalwart and even-handed throughout the past five years. Save for a few spats that got too personal, of course.
I think it's just a case of growing out of TTLG as being a timely diversion, too many other things can start vying for your attention and sooner or later something has to fall out somewhere - first to go are the utterly frivolous or non-productive areas which generally encompasses most internet browsing/interaction (not my definition, but definitely for a lot of people). Or worse, which is what I think the case was with noid, he was just spending too much time here and needed to simply sever the connection, but I'm operating with limited data/assumptions.

There's a big difference between "reading comprehension" and "pure imagination". "I was never welcome anyway" is huffy and childish regardless of whether it's intended to be "tongue in cheek, ironic and self deprecating".
P.S.: If "myopic, sixth-grade-level" is the best you've got then (

How people read noid's message depends on what they think and how they feel about the writer.
To me it seems clearly dramaqueenish.
Rug Burn Junky on 13/11/2007 at 08:04
And I couldn't find a clearer example of why you don't get it.
Fucking christ, "dramaqueenish"? It's not like he came back and made a show, Dia hunted him down and he responded. I'm not going to presume to speak for the man, but anyone who was paying attention to him for the time he was here can figure out that that was all kind of a joke, and definitely poking at himself a bit.
To sit here and whine about his way of leaving because you've got a couple of hang-ups over the way he behaves is kinda sad*, to be honest (not you Vaz, Lesser sounds a bit like a jilted teenager whose boyfriend dumped her right before prom).
*I mean, not as sad as pathetic twats like Pyrian trying to bait me, but still.

In your case, the difference has nothing to do with it, because you fail at basic communication skills. I can sit here and explain to you how deadpan, irony, and other forms of humor and interaction work, and why the sentence you just wrote ("________" is huffy and childish regardless of whether it's intended to be "tongue in cheek, ironic and self deprecating") is inherently flawed from a logical standpoint no matter what it's referring to.
But I won't.
I've got better things to think about.
Now, quite frankly, you ain't worth any more of my time. Run along.

Oh, I didn't know this part.
Anyway, to me he seemed dramaqueenish all along, just in other ways than (*cough*) some other drama queens. And he definitely still stirs up conversation! ;)

Why? Because just today I put the finishing touches on a buyout package from my firm that pays me over $100,000, and tomorrow I've got a job interview as in-house counsel at an investment bank. I've got better things to think about. If you want to call me a pussy, go right ahead, but honestly, in the game of life, I've got a much bigger swinging dick than you do.
and i'll bet your business card has a watermark

Thread divergence is the essence of CommChat.
RBJ's big swinging dick is now the focus of this thread, people. Form a line.
