Stitch, this is the second time I've answered this for you; pay attention this time, yes?

"Technically, this was his last "post" to TTLG, from his birthday thread in March (from an email to Dia; (

'Noid's response:
You can post this to TTLG in my thread:
'Banned, mutual agreement. I was never welcome anyway, nobody liked my
methods and they were just waiting to boot me out of IRC too. Lots of work.
Career, future, life, that sort of thing. 96% of the internet is pathetic
and a complete waste of time so fuck it, fuck it all to hell. be nice to
each other and have less political debates and more science discussions'

noid'
Plus asking the mods to jump through hoops to delete all his posts, etc."
And he did quite a bit of whining about it in #thief before he was banned from there as well. Now please stop asking me. I'm not getting as much satisfaction as you might think from having to repeat this; it wasn't his most shining hour. I *do* miss the bastard somewhat. :( My understanding was that he asked to be banned.

Why don't you quote GBM's reply to you from the other thread while you're at it?

How you can read that and describe it as "childish and huffy" is beyond all comprehension.
It's tongue in cheek, ironic and self deprecating. In fact, it's pretty fucking damn mature.

I thought it was just an understanding that 96% of the internet is pathetic
and a complete waste of time. Did I miss something?

I would have thought he knew he was welcome, we enjoyed the bone jarring blunt humor, and knew from the start the internet aint no work of art.
I guess we just have to accept that people know whats best for themselves. It may not be whats best for us but that's part of the love we have to give back, to just accept that they know and wish them well as they turn away. Because then we get to kick them in the ass and run away laughing.

screech, oh my, I haven't thought about her in awhile now, in fact I had completely forgotten about her until I saw her name again in this thread. And agent monkeysee is gone now also? H'mm...
Online friends are a weird thing. A lot of people I was really good friends with on here years ago (and by that I mean people I would chat with everyday almost) I can barely even remember anymore, because it's been so long since I saw them. It's weird how people can drift apart like that.

By taking him at his word.

It is none of those things. You're giving him way too much credit.

Scots is kinda right about this one, its not just one person, its the whole "golden days" era when noid was one of the main personalities in these forums. I guess these kind of things can only last so long. Still enjoy these forums though, but in a much more casual, more relaxed kinda way. I mean to name a recent highpoint was the San Fran ttlg meet, and the resulting thread(s). I had a great time living vicariously through the various members posts and stories.
I would say hesitantly that the long-term members that are still here are the ones that have changed the least? I joined these forums when I was 26(?) so really I have become a bit mellower, but thats about it. You take into account a lot of members, prime example being noid, have been members since they were in their teens, a lot happens to a person in 7 years when you are only 17.

Or rather, I spent six years interacting with him, so I know the difference between "angry noid" and "playful noid" and that was most definitely playful noid.
That, coupled with the fact that I'm not crippled by your myopic, sixth-grade-level reading comprehension means that it's a good bet that I've got a better bead on this one than you do, chump.
