To be honest, noid is one person I don't miss. His departure raised the general quality of CommChat, IMO. I never understood what was so cool or funny or whatever in his random drunken/drugged rant-fests.

Well, Noid did have a sweet side that he didn't show on Commchat very often but which I saw glimmers of every now and then (usually in private chats at #thief when he was sober... a rare occurance). I don't know, I have a tendency to get drawn to people who are really fucked-up in certain ways and I guess he kind of fit that criteria. Don't get me wrong, there are periods of my life where I can recall despising him, but you know what they say about absense making the heart grow fonder or whatever. Hell, he probably heaped more insults on me then anywhere on here I can think of, yet I still liked the guy (which probably says a lot about me). I wish we could have gotten around to doing that album we used to always talk about doing, but I'd say the odds are slim because he hated almost all of my music with a vengeance (and usually let me know about it using the most colorful language imaginable).

I'm with Vassy, I'm afraid. Noid was a selfish, mean-spirited asshole who did a lot more harm than good. If this forum can't rise above the departure of His Royal Unpleasantness, then we don't deserve to exist as a group at all, and should indeed call it a day.

I have to say, it's not so much 'Noid, it's just that I associate him with my early days on the forum which also included people like Agent Monkeysee, SDM, Greymouser, etc. It was always fun when 'Noid, AM, and Onion Bob would have a go at each other or some such.
