It's enough to look at it in that context, but figure in the shear number of people suffering from HIV/AIDS right this second and it's all the more staggering. Add to that the exponential spread of the disease due to its nature and KOMAG STFU.

Why can't people try to see a different perspective instead of just bashing and ripping on it. Is it really true that no one here can possibly understand that I don't get excited over news of aids research advancement because of how I'm still sadly aware of other larger killers? Perhaps I ought to me more excited about this, perhaps I should stop and forget about the other diseases and all the much greater deaths and suffering they cause, and just be happy about this situation right now. That may be true, but it seems a small reason to think I'm the devil or something.
You won't see me calling people names and viscously insulting them because I think they're wrong about something.
But most folks around here seem to do that to me, with little provocation. There is no effort to see where I'm coming from. The worst possible interpretation is usually taken, and then I'm attacked based on those assumptions. I'd almost like to say "grow up", but age seems to have little to do with it.

Yeah, I agree with KOMAG: why you always gotta rag on the dumbass and completely non-factual and incorrect perspective? Stop being so goddamn racist.

So when you watch the news, and they report that they caught a guy who killed a grandmother in her home.....you say "Meh, that's nothin'. wake me when there's another Dahner in custody"?
Keep on rockin' in the Free World!

I'm all for tossing Kermit into a blender, then stuffing the slurry into a syringe so a few million people can live. What's green, red and goes a hundred miles an hour? A frog in blender! :eww: :laff:
Wait! This is a serious thread about bashing Komag. Oh no! That's not it.
I mean, it's about a great cure. Of course the cure from a rainforest frog sounds a little like Hollywood does it not? Sean Connery ehh!!
Or maybe: "It rubs frogs on its skin or it gets the hose again!"
Nevermind, I'm now banned.:(

I'm thinking to myself...
"What are you expecting, Ben? Do you expect these dudes to suddenly be all like 'okay, sorry about the insults, can you explain where you're coming from as it relates to this and this and such and such'? Do you then hope to calmly explain more and have them respond with respectful intelligent questions and comments like some panel of reclining cigar smoking intellectuals? Do you finally hope for everyone to gather round in some internet hand holding circle and be like 'we now understand you more, Komag, and although we think you're mistaken and should have more heart for aids victims, we still see how your other thoughts might lead you to have the views you do, so take care and god bless...'. C'mon Ben, stop kidding yourself, these are INTERNET FORUMS, and these particular forums are full of GAME PLAYERS. Get real man, stop posting stuff like this, you only bring it on yourself. It's like you got some sort of chat-room-death-wish or something. When you see a thread about some news, just pipe in and say "wow, that's great, good job" and you'll be much better off"
Yeah, thinking stuff like that...

...just be careful who you sleep around with. Karma's a bitch.

About 13 people every minute die from cancer. Everyone knows it's a huge problem. I don't think anyone would disagree that cancer, worldwide, is a larger problem than AIDS (according to the World Health Organization, 12% of deaths annually are due to cancer).
But you said a cure for AIDS was nothing to get excited about. You've got about as much chance explaining your way out of that as the BNP guy had after asking where's the black mozart.
TJKeranen on 5/5/2006 at 06:56
Well, cure for AIDS would rock hard and would change many things for the better, but I agree that cure for cancer or for example dementia would rock even harder.
One baby step at a time, I guess.
