Prompted solely by Ireland's mind-boggling draw with Zimbabwe yesterday, I felt the need to have somewhere to discuss the rest of the tournament!
And sorry Zimbabwe, that last ball definitely shouldn't have been a stumping, but never mind.

Well, England are being typically entertaining this afternoon.
Slightly dodgy start (52-3)
Recovery (133-3)
DRAMATIC COLLAPSE (138-7)
Recovery! (209-7)
And now New Zealand are 19-3 ...
God knows what will happen next.
[edit] A fairly simple win for NZ, that's what
[edit2] But forget all that bollocks, the Ireland-Pakistan match is absolutely, genuinely, incredible. Astonishingly, IRELAND are in with a pretty solid chance of winning the game after skittling Pakistan out for 132. This is brilliant for cricket (as was Bangladesh beating India earlier today), especially amidst the usual rah-rah bullshit about "weaker teams" clogging up the tournament. Fantastic stuff.
Although now I'm a bit nervous about Kenya or Canada getting ideas ...

NZ > England isn't really surprising.
Bangles > India is somewhat. The Bangles did beat NZ handily in their warmup.
Ireland > Pakistan is rather a large surprise though.
So that's Pakistan out and Ireland through.
How long till the first match fixing accusations?

Ireland aren't actually through, although they do stand a good chance of doing so. It could even come down to net run rate where Ireland will have the advantage of playing last.

I know, I've seen them play first hand, but really, did you expect anything else on Saint Patrick's Day? ;)

Sports managers will do anything to deflect criticism these days...
