I love the way CHANGING YOUR MIND is seen as a terrible sin for a politician to commit.

Now, now, that wasn't very nice. :tsktsk: I wasn't attacking you, but you tried to make it personal. I don't hate you, though you obviously don't care for me. Why is it you are so frightened of someone who is willing to express a different opinion?

I'm not frightened of people with opinions, I'm just sick and tired of people like you criticising one of America's very few genuinely great men with no justification whatsoever.
SICK AND TIRED YOU HEAR.

. My one vote doesn't matter. The outcome will be exactly the same no matter what I do.
Obviously, you weren't in Washington in 2004.
Also: I love how the first linked attack ad implicity assumes that paying for sex instead of soldiers is a BAD thing.

Only in America could the phrase "LIBERAL Ellen Simon served as the PRESIDENT of the ACLU" be used as a personal attack.
But then the whole concept of these ads is so warped, I don't think we ought to be surprised by their content.
And if I didn't know that that Ron Kind ad was genuine, I'd swear it was some sort of hilarious parody. I guess these campaign ads are above parody.
The one good thing is that these cartoonish Republican attacks just go to show how utterly desperate they are for votes. As if the painful failure of the Republican-led Iraq war wasn't enough, it seem like every right-winger from Boston to Seattle has been secretly doing crystal meth off the buttocks of underage male prostitutes. I hope the electorate shitcans these hypocritical bastards in the strongest possible terms.
The apocalypse must be nigh. I agree 100% with this statement. :o

Yes, I hear you, and I am listening. Would you like to tell me how you justify
your opinion? What makes you think Kerry is such a paragon? I don't find much credence in people who don't even try to explain their viewpoint. You just assume that I will disagree. Convince me. Tell me something about this man that would change my mind. I'm not claiming to know everything about him, but I don't care for what I've seen. Show me something that will make me like this man.

I look at his privileged background, and I see the easy option would have been for him to live that worthless rich-boy lifestyle that Bush did. Instead he joined the armed forces and nearly died for his country.
And when he came back from Vietnam, the easy option would have been for him to slide back into obscurity and a cushy job in business somewhere. Instead, he became an activist and put all his efforts to getting US troops out of the horribly misguided war that their government had put them into.
And again, after the entire country was misled by the Bush regime, the easy option would have been for him to keep his mouth shut about the Iraq war that he had supported. But he acknowledged that he had been wrong to support the war, even though it meant copping flak for "flip-flopping" (and probably cost him the Presidency).
Given a choice between the easy option and the right option, a great man will opt for the latter. By that criterion, John Kerry is unquestionably a great man.

That's not true. America is home to quite a few genuinely great men and women. Unfortunately for us, most of them are wise enough not to stick foot into the preschool playground that American politics have become.

Abandoning the country to the likes of George Bush, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld is, of course, both wise
and great
