First off, Slate has an amusing 'attack ads awards' thingy at (
http://www.slate.com/id/2152902/) (because I still suck and putting links in words and all that). Yay!
But anyway, what are your personal 'favorites'? Anyone seen any particularly outrageous ones?

LIBERALS HAVE COMPLETELY REWRITTEN THE CONSTITUTION//ISLAMIC EXTREMIST ARE EVERYWHERE!!
//MILLIONS OF BABIES ARE KILLED EVERY YEAR // BUT THE 10 COMMANDMENTS CAN'T BE DISPLAYED
Well, well, holy shit. Uh, isn't this media-blitzing a kind of terrorism in it's own right? Bonus points to Verny Robinson for his hilariosly ironic media Twilight Zone statement.

Article of interest from our beloved Mother Corp.
(
http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2006/11/01/uselect-ads.html?ref=rss) "U.S. parties spend 10 times more on negative election ads."
Muck slinging must pay.
And yeah, pretty bad ad above, especially when the whiney voiced candidate finally pipes up with his approval.

Only in America could the phrase "LIBERAL Ellen Simon served as the PRESIDENT of the ACLU" be used as a personal attack.
But then the whole concept of these ads is so warped, I don't think we ought to be surprised by their content.
And if I didn't know that that Ron Kind ad was genuine, I'd swear it was some sort of hilarious parody. I guess these campaign ads are above parody.
The one good thing is that these cartoonish Republican attacks just go to show how utterly desperate they are for votes. As if the painful failure of the Republican-led Iraq war wasn't enough, it seem like every right-winger from Boston to Seattle has been secretly doing crystal meth off the buttocks of underage male prostitutes. I hope the electorate shitcans these hypocritical bastards in the strongest possible terms.

I saw Robin Williams in Man of the Year. It was funny, but also scary because the US political system really could benefit from electing someone like that. The present system is flawed, and the politicos like it that way. There was a movie many years ago - I misremember its name - where a guy was elected running as "None of the Above". It's sad that comedians and movie people know what is wrong, but the people involved refuse to change.
This is an issue that crosses all party affiliations. There is entirely too much money handed out by special interest groups to influence candidates. All this money could be better spent on causes that help people instead of on attack ads & campaigns. And, the average voter remembers what the ads imply or directly state. TV is a powerful medium because so many people assume that whatever they see must be true because they "saw it on TV". I believe that allowed campaign contributions should be reduced or eliminated. I think you’d see fewer vicious attack ads if any.
Several years ago, back in New Orleans, one local candidate's posters claimed, "He has the favor of God." Now that's just silly. I actually stole one of the posters off a light pole. I still have it packed up somewhere to help me remember just how arrogant & annoying politicians can be.
And, then, there are the whiners. Those who could vote & don't. They'd rather just bitch about the current elected officials. They don't even realize the stupidity of bitching about something which they could try to change but choose not to do so. That's just plain ridiculous to me.
*we now return to our regularly scheduled program*
But, then again, it could just be that everything we do comes back to sex.:p
