Anyone ever been there? My roommate killed a man, fled the state, and according to him "New Jersey law won't allow them catch criminals who have fled the state" or some bullshit. Then, when he went back he says the police dropped charges as "Justified homicide" because the high schooler he beat to death for raping his fiance had raped 5 other girls. I don't think he was feeding me BS either, I walked into the room several times to hear him screamiing on the phone "I FUCKING KILLED MIKE AND I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU TOO STAY THE FUCK AWAY". :o He also has walked me through exactly what happened about 6 times.
My roomy is quite troubled socially and has like 2 freinds. Actually, he's my ex roommate. Not to mention he tells everyone this story, and he was freaking out one night because one of the kid who died's freinds said he was getting a gang in Florida to kill my roommate. I just don't know what to make of this shit, it all started two weeks before thanksgiving when he went home and supposedly put this kid in a coma. This kid died 2 weeks after christmas break sometime in mid-january, and my roomy seemed to find it funny. Pretty disturbing to me personally.:erg:

I don't know about all this, but I do know a guy who flew back to Queens, NY days after 9/11 to go "Paki hunting." He gave me his stuff and asked me to hold on to it while he was gone. Last I talked to him, he threatened to come back and "kill me or take my TV and DVD-player, whichever he gets his hands on first" for smoking his shit. Since then I heard that he hooked up with an equally psycho bitch in Bronx, and is currently presumed to be even more criminally insane. Anyway, never trust a racist psycho who pays his rent in weed.

That 'New Jersey law won't allow [apprehension of] criminals who have fled the state' I find very hard to believe. If one committs a murder in one state and is caught someplace outside of that state, there's no reason why the state (NJ) couldn't extradite. Are you sure your friend was telling you the truth?
Several more questions:
If your friend left NJ for fear of a charge of murder, why did he come back? I'm sure you got a lawyer for yourself, what did he say? What happened to your friend's relationship with the fiancee'? Did it survive? Was it ever proven that the alleged rapist actually committed all these rapes (including that of your friend's fiancee')? Was the alleged rapist a legal adult? Why weren't charges filed (for this or the other rapes)?

I new a guy in high school back in the late eighties who went to jail for manslaughter after he beat someone to death while in a fist fight at a party. He was only in for a year. I ran into him a few years later after high school and he is a scary personl; big anger management problems. Nice guy otherwise.
P.S. whether your room mate is telling the truth or not, it is time for a new one.

I'm pretty sure the whole 'arresting people in other states' thing is addressed in the constitution - which is to say, you can do it.
A kid at my high school was murdered by two fellow students the summer after my freshmen year, over some dispute about a girl. Was a pretty big deal to people, but I didn't know any of the people involved and wasn't really plugged in to the community at that point so it never really bothered me, I'm sorry to say.

I'm fairly certain any crime that results in the death of another person (whether that death is intentional or not), is a federal offense, so fleeing the state wouldn't make one immune to arrest.
