My first ever concert was Chris Isaak back in 2005 I think. Went with my mother as shes a big fan. The year following went with both parents.
In 2009 - Went to 2 concerts. Lamb of God with my best friend from uni. Man that was an experience. Then toward the end of the year went to see Porcupine Tree (with the same friend again). That was awesome, but they were an hour late to stage which set the concert back 1 hour, which as public transport stopped at 12am meant that I missed out on the final hour of it. Grrr.
After that went to Supafest a few times with the then girlfriend (now wife). Supafest is a big RnB festival that is held in Melbourne (or still was last I checked). The first time I went was THE BEST as acts like Snoop Dogg, T-Pain, Nelly, Ciara etc were present. Snoop by far being the star event of it. The 2 I went to after that were half half.
And not been to a music concert since. Would love to go see one of Steven Wilson's (of Porcupine Tree) concerts. Be awesome.

Tomorrow I'm heading 200km south for my only festival this summer, Pori Jazz.
Gonna see:
NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS
MAVIS STAPLES
BURT BACHARACH
Ok I don't really care about Bacharach, but I figure I should see him anyway. I'm a big fan of the other two headliners tho. There'll also be a bunch of smaller, mostly Finnish bands, I'll see if I stumble on something great.

I'm not a particular fan of Bacharach, but I suggest you go anyway. I think you'll be surprised by how many songs of his you know very well but might not know he wrote.
Envies about Nick Cave, obviously. Only saw him once.

Nick Cave would be great to see.

* 2 Unlimited
* Alice in Chains

* Faith No More
* Guns'n'Roses
* John Mayer
* Living Colour
* LL Cool J
* Korn
* Metallica

Alice in Chains don't exist anymore.
No Layne, no AiC.
Same for Stone Temple Pilots.

This is rubbish. Black Gives Way to Blue is one of AIC's best albums.

Wasn't there new music for AiC a few years ago? I have those on my Spotify playlist. Scalpel, voices etc. Great songs.

I've always wanted to see Billy Joel and he is touring I've heard but nowhere in the south close to me. Damn yankee.

Ok, Pori Jazz Thursday review.
Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio (US) - Very cool instrumental funk. Great way to start the festival.
Litku Klementti (FI) - Bad songs performed well! Lots of energy!
Jarmo Saari Republic (FI) - Spaced-out jazz journey, maaaaaan! The guy played a theremin and everything.
Paperi T (FI) - One of the biggest-name Finnish rappers. Yes, that's a thing. Some nice production, but I'm not a big fan.
Jade Bird (UK) - Singer songwriter. Did some ok covers. Eh.
Mavis Staples (US) - Magnificent! Did a lot of new material. Mavis got THE SPIRIT and went off-script at the end of a few songs. That's the stuff.
Cigarattes After Sex (US) - They sounded cool when I listened to them on Spotify before the show, but live they were kinda dull.
Vijay Iyer Sextet (US) - Played like they were trying to win the "Most Jazzy Performance of Pori Jazz 2018" award. Almost TOO JAZZY.
Burt Bacharach (US) - Yeah, Gray was right. Dude's got a lot of songs I was surprised to recognize. Performance-wise, his band did most of the heavy lifting, but the guy's 90 so what do you expect.
Vintage Trouble (US) - Blues rock/soul band with a very energetic lead singer. Put on a hell of a show, even crowd-surfed! Also both the drummer and the guitarist BOTH looked like Viggo Mortensen. True story.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds (AUS) - They played last and longest. Over 2 hours, until midnight when the sun finally went down. Good mix of old and new, rowdy and soft songs. Nick Cave connected with the audience in ways no other performer did, serenading individual audience members, getting down into the crowd and hugging people, switching up lyrics on the spot, and lots of great banter. Even invited 20 or so people from the crowd up on stage to sing along to Stagger Lee. It was fucking magical.
edit: ok Vintage Trouble deserve a little chance to shine, here's a performance on Letterman:

Also I need someone to confirm that I am not just seeing things and that the drummer and guitarist are indeed IDENTICAL CLONES of Viggo Mortensen. Right? RIGHT!?

A bit. More importantly they kick ass.
